Pikmin Bloom Flowers: Big flowers, how to get petals and plant flowers in Pikmin Bloom

Your Pikmin can plant flowers as you explore the world in Pikmin Bloom.

As you wander around while planting flowers, you can contribute to the growth cycle of a large flower. This is useful because when large flowers bloom, there will be new items for your Pikmin to collect through expeditions.

Next you will learn how to get petals and plant flowers, so you can start adding a little color to Pikmin Bloom’s landscape.

How to plant flowers in Pikmin Bloom

To plant flowers, tap the “Flower” button on the right side. Select the petals you want to plant (you’ll start the game with a small assignment) and then press Start.

Now go for a walk. As you do this, you will plant flowers behind you until you run out of petals or tap the Stop button. The next section will discuss the benefits of planting flowers, but first, let’s discuss a couple of modifiers that can change how planting works.

One is your squad size, which will increase with your level, and can be changed by pressing the map at the top of the main menu and then selecting Pikmin. The more Pikmin in your squad, the more flowers you will plant.

The other is that it is possible to change the types of petals to plant flowers of different colors. This is largely cosmetic, but can be used to help influence what the Large Flowers can become (more on this in a later section). This is also where you see how many flowers you can plant with the remaining petals you have left.

It should be noted that flowers planted and steps taken are technically different statistics; you can accumulate steps without planting flowers. This is useful since all of Pikmin Bloom’s level requirements require you to walk a certain distance, but only some also specify planting flowers.

However, planting flowers has a number of benefits, so it is worth having it active, especially if you want seedlings to hatch…

Why plant flowers in Pikmin Bloom?

Planting flowers while you walk has three benefits:

  • While planting flowers, the seedlings in your possession will grow faster by at least 10%. The longer you are planting flowers in a session, the higher the multiplier they will receive.
  • For every 500 flowers you plant, you will earn one coin.
  • Planting flowers near Big Flowers will help them grow and bloom, and the color of the petal planting will influence what they can become. (More on this in a later section.)

The more you walk in a single planting session, the higher your multiplier will be.

An added benefit, of course, is cosmetic: seeing flowers in the world. This is where the different colors also come into play, and we recommend choosing hiking trails based on which ones you think could use a spruce up.

Please note that in addition to your down, flowers planted by other players can also appear on your map. After all, this is a multiplayer game!

How to get petals in Pikmin Bloom

To plant flowers, you must have petals in your possession. There are several ways to get petals in Pikmin Bloom, but the main one is by feeding Pikmin nectar.

You can feed Pikmin nectar on the “whistle” screen until a flower blooms on its head and then collect the petals to add to your inventory.

Different colored nectar means different colored petals and, in turn, flowers, so it’s worth rotating your nectar collection to get a good variety of colors.

If you run out of petals, you can go on Expeditions that will help you collect more nectar, or visit the shop and buy Petals, which range from 50 to 200 coins, depending on the color.

Large flowers in Pikmin Bloom explained

You can easily spot large flowers in any of their three forms (leaf, bud, and bloom) when you walk alongside your Pikmin in Pikmin Bloom.

Large flowers are grown by planting flowers around their base. Each has its own radius, which is represented by a circle in the walking view, and you can see how many flowers are left to plant by selecting the large flower.

It takes 300 flowers to grow a large flower at each stage, meaning a total of 600 flowers must be planted within its radius for the large flower to bloom. It’s also important to note that the large flower’s growth cycle will restart after 23 hours, according to JasTx_Jasmineteax on reddit.

Plant flowers within the radius of a large flower to help it grow!

Fortunately, this is a community effort, and any player who walks within the radius while planting flowers contributes to the growth of the large flower, so don’t feel like you have to do it alone.

When a large flower is blooming, a selection of rare items, such as special shiny fruits, will appear around its base, which can be collected by sending your Pikmin on an expedition. Items you recover from large flowers will be marked with a flower icon in the Expedition tab to help you decide which ones are worth collecting.

Large flowers can also form a variety of flower types, with the exact type being determined in part by the flower planted around their base. If the large flower is surrounded by mostly blue flowers, for example, it is likely to become a blue flower type. The exception to this is the white flower, which can cause other types of large flowers to bloom, so players can easily collect different types of nectar.

Finally, your choice of flower can turn the large flower into a rare variant, including roses and pansies.

What else do you need to know about planting flowers in Pikmin Bloom?

In addition to the explanations above, here are some additional things worth knowing about how to plant flowers in Pikmin Bloom:

  • There is about a five-minute cooldown to replant flowers in the same spot you previously visited. This means you should circle around a different walking route, or go back and forth adjacent to where you just walked, to maximize your planting.
  • The planted flowers will disappear in five days.
  • When feeding nectar to Pikmin, anything other than Nectar’s default white color will instantly cause them to bloom. However, if you first get the Pikmin to the “bud” stage by walking, then you can spend less nectar to make them bloom and therefore get colorful petals for less money as well.

  • Walking among flowers already planted (by yourself or other players) does not give you any bonuses.
  • As with the steps, you can close your app once you have started planting flowers and they will be counted. (If you’re familiar with Niantic’s other games, this means ‘Adventure Sync’ is available on day one.)
  • While the number of Pikmin in your squad will increase the bloom rate of your flowers, whether they are in flower bud form or have a greater friendship with your Pikmin, it does not appear to have an effect on how the flowers are planted. flowers.
