Monster Hunter World Gajalaka quests – How to find all Gajalaka markings and complete Gajalaka Linguistics 2

Monster Hunter World Gajalaka quests are optional end-game rewards that you can clear between high-ranking hunts.

Like Grimalkynes, Gajalakas are native creatures that you can befriend, granting you abilities once you’ve completed the relevant bounties.

Elsewhere, our Monster Hunter World tips can help you decide when to farm, what to search for, and what to do between hunts, and our Monster Hunter World walkthrough and guide can help you with main quest and story progress.

Gajalakas markings in Monster Hunter World explained

The Gajalaka are Grimalkyne-like creatures that appear in the high-ranking versions of each area.

While in your first few encounters Grimalkyne might run away, Gajalaka can be surprisingly aggressive towards you, but over time it’s possible to befriend them to help you in battle, as well as unlocking a new Tailraider and Palico Gadget.

To begin, you must have unlocked High Rank and completed all of Grimalkyne’s previous quests at Low Rank.

From there, you can interact with the Gajalaka markings on the walls. These act like Grimalykne doodles, but instead of a gauge, you’ll start a bounty to find a total of 10 in all areas.

These are harder to get than Gajalaka’s doodles and are located differently for each player. Our recommendation is to simply continue playing at high rank and keep an eye on where these marks appear.

Sometimes they will be close to Gajalakas, sometimes not. If it helps, some hotspots for us were the northwest forested part of Wildspire Waste and area 1 of Elder’s Recess, but again, they’re different for everyone.

Once the bounty is complete, return to Astera and chat with the Lynian researcher near the research team.

He wants us to study the Gajalakas, so he enters Expedition mode and travels to Elder’s Recess; You may have to unlock this area before this step can begin; It’s not too far from high range, so keep playing.

How to complete Gajalaka Linguists 2

Once you’ve spoken to Researcher Lynian after finding 10 Marks, head to Elder’s Recess in Expedition mode. We recommend packing the Ghillie Mantle before you leave.

The Lynian researcher will appear just outside area 8. On the map it looks like it’s area 4, but you need to head underground. From the southernmost camp, head northeast, take the path down one level, turn the corner to the northeast, and climb the wall. The researcher will be next to a cave entrance on the right.

In order to begin the next step, it needs to be night. There’s no easy way to advance the time beyond simply waiting, so put the controller down for 20 minutes or maybe explore the area. It might be a good time to farm some new bones and minerals!

When the stars are in the sky, it’s time to return to Researcher Lynian. What follows is a stealth section, where you must get past Gajalaka’s sentinels to her hideout.

There are three sections; a Gajalaka in the corner, then, after crawling under glass, one drops bombs on the edge of a corner, and immediately after, two around a campfire directly in front of the hideout entrance.

If you are detected (indicated by the minimap glowing red), you will not be able to access the hideout (the button that will tell you to enter simply will not appear). If you are detected, run back until the minimap returns to normal and then try again.

It’s a particularly difficult challenge, and by far the easiest option is to equip the Ghillie Cloak (if you don’t have it with you, you can return to camp, enter the tent, and change your equipment without needing to return to Astera). ). With it active, the Gajalaka will not see you.

If for some reason that doesn’t work, then the next best method is to wait until each Gajalaka starts “dancing” and raise your hands in the air. You’ll know this is happening when your Palico tells you. Now you can walk in front of them, even if they are looking at you, and they won’t react.

So, in sequence, run past the first one (it doesn’t matter if they see you, as the minimap will return to normal when you reach the next one), then at the second one, wait until it stops dropping bombs. and he starts to dance.

Then wait on the hill overlooking the camp and, when they are both dancing, carefully pass by. Again, the Ghillie Mantle is by far the best option here, if she has it.

Once you enter the hideout, a cutscene will explain that you can now recruit Gajalaka in battle (not all of them though, some will still be hostile!) and you will receive the final Palico Gadget, the Meowlotov Cocktail.

The next time you talk to your Palico in your shop, you’ll also learn that you can recruit Gastodon as a Tailraider in battle.

It’s also worth noting that the Gajalaka Linguists 2 quest is an easy way to find two extra camps for Elder’s Recess.

One location is where you meet researcher Lynian. Go north and climb the wall, then crawl into the cave.

For the second, once you have entered the hideout, you will have moved across the map to the northwest corner. Take the path out of this hideout to the south, and where it opens up again there will be another camp.
