There are several editions of Modern Warfare for those interested in getting an early interest in the 2019 Call of Duty game.
The debut announcement, in addition to confirming that franchise leader Infinity Ward was once again directing the franchise reboot, also revealed a Modern Warfare release date and assets, including a Modern Warfare trailer.

Modern Warfare Editions, Operator Packs Explained
Pre-orders for Modern Warfare are now available (including on Amazon UK on consoles) along with various editions and operator packs.
All of these will also provide early access to the Modern Warfare beta, ahead of the open beta the following weekend.
Modern Warfare Digital Special Editions
There are several editions, each of which increases the number of bonuses that come with it.
Bonuses for pre-ordering Modern Warfare Standard Edition:
- Prestige Token for use in Black Ops 4 (redeemable only on the same platform you pre-order on)
- Tactical knife cosmetic with “Limited Edition” label
The Operator Edition of Modern Warfare includes the above, plus:
- ‘All Ghillied Up’ Operator Pack (Themed Skin and Weapon Cosmetics)
- ‘Crew Expendable’ Operator Pack (Themed Skin and Weapon Cosmetics)
- ‘Warpig’ Operator Pack (Themed Skin and Weapon Cosmetics)
The Operator Enhanced Edition includes the above, plus:
- 3000 Call of Duty points
Finally there’s the Dark Edition, which includes the above plus some actual night vision goggles:
Modern Warfare Physical Special Editions
To make things a little simpler, there are only two editions: the standard physical edition which includes just the game (available on Amazon UK for consoles) and a Precision Edition, which includes all the content from the previous Digital Carrier Edition, plus of some physical extras. , which includes a steelbook, joysticks, and a branded controller design.
Modern Warfare Release Date: When is Call of Duty 2019 Released?
Modern Warfare’s release date is Friday, October 25, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
This puts Modern Warfare in the same time range as Black Ops 4 last year, suggesting that Call of Duty has moved from its traditional November to October release date.

A press release also confirmed the following details:
- Modern Warfare will have a single-player mode, unlike 2018’s Black Ops 4, with “a cutting-edge, culturally relevant and thought-provoking single-player campaign” set in European cities and the Middle East.
- Fan-favorite characters from the Modern Warfare series, like Captain Price, will return.
- There will be a “unified narrative experience and progression” across multiplayer, campaign and co-op modes.
- There will be a Modern Warfare beta in September.
- Plans for Modern Warfare cross-play and new maps have been confirmed.
- It has been confirmed that Killstreaks will return for multiplayer.
- Modern Warfare will launch on Battle.net for PC, as will 2018’s Call of Duty game Black Ops 4.
- Modern Warfare will feature a new engine with a generational leap in fidelity, according to a report from Digital Foundry.
