How to unlock the Icarus 556 in Modern Warfare 2
The 556 Icarus is a powerful light machine gun that you can unlock through the M4 progression deck.
To have access to this weapon, you must use the M4 until you reach level 18. After that, the 556 Icarus will be available.
Since it’s part of the M4 progression tree, the 556 Icarus is a great starting weapon to use. On top of that, 556 Icarus gives you access to a good variety of attachments in its own progression tree.
Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus best equipment and accessories
These are the best loadouts and accessories for Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus:
- Barrel: FTAC Coldforge 16”
- Under the barrel: Pineapple VX
- Rear grip: XTEN grip
- Stock: Factory Corio Price
- Optics: Forge Tac Delta 4
The 556 Icarus is a powerful weapon and works best for a playstyle focused on mid-range gunfights. While mobility is not an issue, an aggressive approach where you chase down enemies will not work very well with this weapon.
Since there aren’t many barrel options for the 556 Icarus, the FTAC Coldforge 16” fits perfectly with what we need, increasing bullet velocity and damage range.
The Forge Tac Delta 4 optic gives us more precision and range, while the Corio Precio Factory stock increases aiming stability and recoil control. Both are important to help us follow the enemies with our shots.
Among the options for rear grip, XTEN Grip is the best option mainly because it only slightly decreases our recoil control while increasing the handling stat.
Like the lower barrel, the VX Pineapple offers more accuracy and recoil control.
Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus, the best build, perks and class equipment
Our picks for the best Modern Warfare 2 556 Icarus secondary loadouts, perks, and loadouts are:
- Core Benefit 1: Hype
- Core Perk 2: Strong Arm
- Additional benefit: fast hands
- Max Profit: Phantom
- Secondary: Speed 12
- Tactic: Tear gas
- Lethal: Drill Charge
- Field Update: Drop Down Cover
For this build, both base perks were chosen keeping in mind that 556 Icarus is not the best weapon to deal with enemies that come jumping right in front of you and that you may need to use your tactical and lethal gear to knock enemies out of their way. cover.
While Overkill allows you to carry two main weapons, Strong Arm allows you to throw your grenades further and see their trajectory.
Fast Hands as a bonus helps you reload the 556 Icarus faster, a time-consuming weapon to do regularly.
The ultimate perk, Ghost, will hide you from enemy UAVs, portable radars, and heartbeat sensors. Since running with the 556 Icarus is not the best scenario, knowing that you won’t be discovered so easily in your hiding place is a big help.
For times when you change locations or hear footsteps behind you, choose the Expedite 12, which is faster than the 556 Icarus but also quite powerful.
In situations where you are facing enemies hiding behind structures or inside rooms, you can use Piercing Charge on a wall that hits enemies on the other side, or Tear Gas that covers a large area forcing enemies to disperse.
The Deployable Cover field upgrade is a tool for situations where you find yourself facing enemies but without good cover to take your time and aim your shots. It could also serve to reinforce the cover you already have.
With this 556 Icarus loadout and class, you’re ready for Modern Warfare 2. In case this weapon isn’t your playstyle, you can check out our best weapons in Modern Warfare 2 page for some alternative options, as well as our explanation on how to unlock weapons.
