How to change house colour in Disney Dreamlight Valley and how to get more house skins

The ability to change the house color in Disney Dreamlight Valley was added during its third major update in February 2023, ‘A Festival of Friendship’.

Unlike getting new characters or starting stories, this customization feature isn’t tied to a particular quest, so it’s unclear how to do it at first.

To help you get started, below we detail how to change the house color in Disney Dreamlight Valley, as well as how to get more house skins.

How to change the color of the house in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Although it doesn’t take long to change the color of your house, you must first upgrade it to the maximum level. There are three house upgrades you can purchase to reach the maximum level, for a total of 97,000 Star Coins.

You can upgrade your house by selecting the Scrooge McDuck sign outside. For more detailed steps, see our home storage and updating page.

Once your house has been completely upgraded, here’s how to change the color of your house in Disney Dreamlight Valley:

  • Open inventory menu
  • Select ‘Furniture’
  • Press the ‘Close Panel’ button to enter selection mode
  • Select your house
  • Press the ‘Replace’ button displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen.
  • Choose a replacement color

There are five basic colors to choose from in your home:

  • Facing two green waters
  • Facing white gable
  • In front of two blue waters
  • Purple Gablefront
  • Facing two orange waters

These are nice variations on the basic yellow house you started with, but there are more extravagant house styles you can get…

The Disney Dreamlight Valley September Update is here! You can now obtain Beauty and the Beast by completing the quests Into the West Wing and A Prince in Disguise. The Fairy Godmother is still in the valley, so you can continue the story through the Forgotten Memories quest. Now you can also have multiplayer houses and customize furniture. If you’re still catching up on the story, be sure to complete The Great Blizzard quest to unlock Olaf, as well as take Simba and Nala to the valley. How to get more house designs in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As of this writing, the only way to get more house designs in Disney Dreamlight Valley is to purchase them in the Item Shop. Prices may vary, but the first premium house style added to the game was the ‘Palace’ layout, which cost 3,750 Moonstone.

House designs are applied in exactly the same way as you change the color of your house, through the “Furniture” tab.

Moonstones are a premium currency that you can purchase from the ‘Moonstone’ tab in the Store, but you can also get them from Star Path and by opening a daily blue chest located randomly in the valley.

There may be other ways to get more house designs in the future tied to quests, or maybe even Scrooge McDuck’s shop. For now, though, you’ll have to splurge on those Moonstones if you want different house designs.

Different home designs can also take up more space.
