UPDATE (March 18): And we’re live! You can see an overview of the list of DLC tracks now available and datamines of what’s likely to come. While you’re playing again, it’s now time to finish getting the remaining unlockables, including the elusive Gold Mario.

ORIGINAL GUIDE: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC release date is officially Friday, March 18; However, the good news is that the Mario Kart 8 DLC release date is technically Thursday for several regions:

  • United Kingdom: 23:00 (GMT, Thursday)
  • Europe: 00:00 (CEST, Friday)
  • US East Coast: 7 pm (EDT, Thursday)
  • US West Coast: 4 pm (PDT, Thursday)

This is a couple of hours earlier than most Nintendo updates, which are released around 2am UK time on the day in question. This means that in Europe, if you stay up until midnight, you can start playing.

Of course, it’s worth noting that these times could change, but either way, you can start preloading the update now so you can play right away.

If you play in Europe, we recommend that you sleep through the night and start playing first thing in the morning, when you are fully refreshed.

What’s included in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC update?

The March 18, 2022 DLC update focuses on Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass, which will eventually add 48 remastered tracks from other Mario Kart games.

Wave 1 will feature the following two cups, each with four courts:

Golden Dash Cup

  • Paris Boardwalk (Mario Kart Tour)
  • Toad Circuit (Nintendo 3DS)
  • Chocó Mountain (Nintendo 64)
  • Coconut Mall (Wii)

lucky cat cup

  • Tokyo Blur (Mario Kart Tour)
  • Mushroom Crest (Nintendo DS)
  • Sky Garden (Game Boy Advance)
  • Ninja Hideout (Mario Kart Tour)

For those who haven’t played the Mario Kart Tour mobile game, there are three tracks here that will feel new; Otherwise, there’s a decent variety of tracks from across Mario Kart history, including the classic Sky Garden from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. and the horror that is N64’s Choco Mountain.

In addition to the above, there may be additional patch changes and tweaks to discover.
