List of the 10 busiest airports in the world: Airports Council International (ACI) World published the list of the 10 busiest airports in the world. The ranking, which is based on 2021 data collection from airports around the world, shows signs of traffic recovery in the post-pandemic world.
Georgia’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport regains the top spot on the list as the world’s busiest airport, followed by Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Denver International Airport.

In 2020, Guangzhou Bai Yun International Airport reached the highest rank in 2020 and fell to eighth place in 2021. The most significant improvement came at Orlando International Airport, which saw an increase of 86.7% in 2021 from to 2020.
Eight out of 10 airports are located in the United States, while the remaining two are in China.
The report noted a 25% increase in total global passengers in 2021 compared to 2020 and a drop of more than 50% compared to 2019. Passenger traffic at the 10 busiest airports saw a 51% increase. .8% compared to 2020 or a drop of 29.1% compared to its 2019 results.

“ACI’s global passenger traffic rankings tell the story of an encouraging recovery trend, with most of the busiest airports before COVID-19 back on top,” said ACI Global Director General Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
He added: “While we are cautious that the recovery could face multiple obstacles, the momentum created by countries’ reopening plans could lead to increased travel in the second half of 2022.”
