The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the central recruitment agency in India for the recruitment officers of the Government of India. It includes the President and members appointed by the President of India. Take a look at the list of all UPSC presidents from 1926 to 2023 below.
List of UPSC presidents
The Union Public Service Commission is the principal central recruitment agency of India. It is responsible for recruiting all Group ‘A’ officers under the Government of India through various examinations. UPSC is one of the few institutions in India that operates with complete autonomy and freedom. Articles 315 to 323 of Part XIV of the constitution contain detailed provisions regarding the composition of the UPSC.

UPSC consists of the President and members appointed by the President of India. The president and members of the UPSC hold office for a period of 6 years or until the age of 65 years. Sir Ross Barker was the first president of the UPSC, he joined in October 1926 and served until August 1932.
