How to unlock Another Life in Like a Dragon Ishin
When you start Like a Dragon: Ishin, you’ll notice that Another Life is grayed out in the pause menu. Don’t worry though, you won’t have to jump through any hoops to unlock the side activity, because it’s simply unlocked during Chapter 4 of the main story.
At one point during the main story events of Chapter 4, Ryoma is brought to the farm by a priest and basically signs up to help Haruka pay off his debts on the farm. We estimate that it will take you between four and five hours to reach this point in Like a Dragon: Ishin if you head straight through the main story.
How to expand your farm in Like a Dragon Ishin
Another Life revolves around the agricultural plots that you will find right in front of the main house. However, there is very little farm space to play with when you first start Another Life, so to maximize your farming output, you’ll want to build additional farm plots.
Head to the Sanctuary which is immediately to the left of the main entrance to the property. Here, you can use your accumulated Virtue to unlock features that relate directly to the Afterlife. Please note that only in this Shrine can you unlock features for farming mode, as you cannot unlock them in the main Shrine in Kyo while you are wandering around.
If you want to expand your farm quickly, head to the “Farm” tab in the Sanctuary menu. It’s here that you can unlock additional plots for a relatively low price, with new plots costing 500, 1,500, and finally 4,000 Virtues for each expansion. It is through this that you will be given new agricultural plots to grow more vegetables.

In addition to purchasing new farming plots in Another Life, there are a flood of other unlocks available for you to choose from in the Sanctuary.
In the following list, we detail the best purchasing options in the Sanctuary using your accumulated Virtue:

- Typical kitchen improvement: 300 virtues
- Farm Level 2 – 1,500 Virtue

How to pay off the debt of Another Life in Like a Dragon Ishin
The main plot of Like a Dragon: Ishin’s Another Life is obviously to pay off Haruka’s debt, which is sometimes easy to forget. However, if you want to start this, head to the farm building and look to the back left corner of the room to find a cabinet.
Approach this cabinet and you’ll have the option to fulfill orders, sending Haruka to deliver the goods you’ve accumulated on the farm to paying customers. This is how you’re going to pay off the huge debt Haruka is in, and in fact, it’s one of the best ways to make money in Ishin.
Pay attention to the products you need to fulfill individual orders. If an order requests two carrots and a potato, for example, you must plant them in the available space and wait for them to yield so that they are ready to be harvested. When you have the desired products for an order, return to the cabinet to complete the order and get the rewards.
How to find dogs and cats for Afterlife in Like a Dragon Ishin
Here’s something strange: you can unlock dogs and cats for your farm in Like a Dragon: Ishin. However, to get started, you need to head to the Farm Sanctuary and purchase the options to house a cat and a dog separately. You will have to do this before you even think about finding the creatures and taking them in.
However, when you are done with this, leave the farm and head to the point on the map that we have marked just below in Kyo, in the Rakugai area. Make sure you are at this point during the day and you will see a dog barking, drawing the ire of nearby residents. This is the substory to unlock a dog for Afterlife.
To complete this substory, you simply need to give the dog enough bones to fill his friendship meter. This is actually very easy, as there is a shop at the map point marked below (Ebisu Pawn) that sells bones for 100 Mon each. It takes around four bones to completely fill the dog’s friendship meter, and once this is done, you will have the option to board the dog on your farm. Work done.
Finally, for the cat, you will have to go to the option that we have marked on the map just below, which can be found in Rakugai. When you are here during the day, you will see a hungry cat lying on the ground, with its stomach growling somewhat fiercely.
As you approach the cat, you will have the option to feed it fish as part of the Hungry Cat substory. Every time you feed it another fish (which can be of your choice), the cat’s friendship meter will increase, bringing it one step closer to living with Ryoma and Haruka.
However, the fourth time you try to feed it a fish, it will somehow ask for bream. Also, the fifth and last time you need to feed the cat, you will need a whole tuna. You can buy sea bream at the Fushimi fish market, but you will have to fish in a river or open sea water to catch tuna.
Once you’ve fed the finicky cat bream and tuna, he’ll eventually choose to move to your farm. You’ll now have picked up a dog and a cat in Afterlife, making the farm feel a little more like a home.
