How to wish in Genshin Impact

There are some low-level characters you get for free by playing the beginnings of the Mondstadt story in Genshin Impact, but Wishing is the only way to get S-tier characters, or close to them.

You don’t need the best characters in the game to progress through the story, but having a decent team with backup options will help you clear content faster and complete levels in The Spiral Abyss. This end-game challenge arena offers many rewards for clearing its levels, including Primogems, Mora, talent materials, and artifacts.

To wish in Genshin Impact, you will have to spend Destiny on banners. Different banners have a different pool of 5- and 4-star characters, but there are also 5-, 4-, and 3-star weapons included in each banner’s item pool.

To unlock the ability to wish on your account, you will first need to complete the Archon quest ‘Prologue, Act I: The Stranger Who Caught the Wind – Knights of Favonius’. Once you do, you can click on the ‘Wish’ submenu when you open the main menu to go to the Banners section. Or tap the Primogem icon at the top of the screen if you’re playing on a mobile device.

Here, you can spend blue-colored Acquaint Fate to Wish on Wanderlust Invocation and Beginners’ Wish, or pink and blue Intertwined Fate on character event banners and the Epitome Invocation weapon banner.

To see which characters are included in each Banner right now, be sure to check out our Next and Current Banner page.

Version 4.1 is coming! With it comes the debut of Neuvillette and Wriothesley, but in the meantime, in version 4.0, our Fontaine guide can help you with the reputation of Fontaine and the Fountain of Lucine, and you can also redeem new codes for Primogems if you want Lyney, and check it out in our tier list. To upgrade Lyney, you will need a lot of Rainbow Rose and Lynette requires Lumidouce Bell. You’ll also need luck from the Pity and 50/50 systems to wish them fate and future banners, and you’ll always need the correct adventure rank for events. Elsewhere, we have beginner tips and tricks, Dendroculus locations, fishing locations, and TCG card locations.

How to get destiny in Genshin Impact

Here’s how to get Destiny in Genshin Impact:

You can get Intertwined Fate at Paimon’s Bargains store.

  • Intertwined Fate x4 of the ‘Gnostic Hymn’ Battle Pass premium tier every time it is updated.
  • x5 Acquaint Fate from the free ‘Sojourner’ Battle Pass tier every time you update.
  • x1 Know the destiny for promoting a character to level 20, 50 and 70.
  • Know the destiny x2 for each Adventure Rank Ascension quest completed.
  • Purchase Acquaint or Intertwined Fate from Paimon’s Bargains store with Primogems, Masterless Starglitter, or Masterless Stardust.

These are the best ways to get Fate in Genshin Impact, but there are some additional stories and side quests you can complete to get more Knowledge and Intertwined Fate, but mainly Knowledge. This includes the ‘Lumenstone Adjuvant’ upgrade quest found in The Chasm and the ‘Sacred Sakura’s Favor’ quest located in the Inazuma region.

With this in mind, the most reliable way to get Fate in Genshin Impact is by purchasing it from the Paimon’s Bargains store. This doesn’t mean you have to spend real money in the game; you just have to convert some of your in-game currencies to Fate. However, the option to purchase Genesis Crystals with real money and convert them into Primogems is there if you really want it.

To access Paimon offers, open the main menu and select the “Buy” option. A new menu will appear and in the options on the left side you will see “Paimon’s Offers”. In Paimon’s Bargains store, Intertwined and Acquaint Fate are always at the top of each tab’s offerings.

You can only purchase five of each type of Fate per month with Masterless Stardust.

These are the rates to purchase Intertwined and Acquaint Fate from Paimon’s Bargains:

  • x1 Intertwined or Known Fate for x160 Primogems.
  • x1 Intertwined or Known Fate for x75 Masterless Stardust (limit five of each fate type each month).
  • x1 Fate intertwined or known by x5 Masterless Starglitter.

Masterless Stardust is obtained by drawing a 3-star Wishing weapon on any banner. You will get x15 Masterless Stardust for every 3-star draw.

Masterless Starglitter is obtained by obtaining duplicate 4 or 5 star characters and weapons. This is how much Masterless Starglitter you get for each type of repetition in Genshin Impact:

Duplicate extraction type Masterless Starglitter obtained
4-star character (Incomplete Constellation) x2 star shine
4-star character (in the maximum constellation) x5 star shine
5-star character (Incomplete Constellation) x10 Star shine
5-star character (in the maximum constellation) x25 star shine
4 star weapon x2 star shine
5 star weapon x10 Star shine

Wishing you good luck on the Genshin Impact posters!
