Unlocking Persona 5 Royal Third Semester may seem like a daunting task if you’re not sure what the criteria are. The truth is that this task could not be simpler. While many theories emerged just after the JRPG’s initial release for PS4 in 2020, we’ve since had time to determine the actual requirements.
You’ll want to unlock the new third half in Persona 5 Royal for many reasons. In addition to the expanded story and quality of life improvements, Royal includes a new palace, new characters, an expanded journey to Mementos, and a third-level evolution for each Phantom Thief Persona. If you don’t unlock it, it means you’ve missed the most important reason to play Royal instead of the original Persona 5.
Of course, we still have to get there first, which is no small feat for a JRPG that takes over 100 hours to beat. It’s worth noting that unlocking the third half of Persona 5 Royal overlaps significantly with unlocking the true ending of Persona 5 Royal. You can’t do one without the other. What are the unlock requirements for the third half of Persona 5 Royal?
Obtaining the original True Ending of Persona 5 is essential to unlocking the third half of Royal. Without giving away what happens, you must choose the first answer during the interrogation sequences, reach the last dungeon and reject the offer made to Joker.
Most importantly, you must reach Rank 9 for the Confidant Advisor, Dr. Maruki, before November 17. He is the only Confidant required to unlock this and is not available to visit during the summer, so we recommend prioritizing him over others. Confidents. If you fail to reach Rank 9, Royal will completely exclude you from the third half and instead give you the true ending of the original Persona 5.
Kasumi (Faith Confidant) and Akechi (Justice Confidant) are worth keeping in mind before we get to the third half. None of the social links are required, but if Kasumi is not at rank 5 by December 22, her social link will remain locked for the rest of the game. Additionally, getting Akechi to Rank 8 by November 17 unlocks an additional post-credits scene.
What else can I do during the third half of Persona 5 Royal?
The third half contains some unique opportunities, including a third evolution for your teammates’ Personas. This will become available once you have maxed out their original Social Link to Rank 10, after which their Personas evolve into their second form. Once this is done, meet with them again in January to activate this third evolution.
Hanging out with the six thieves (excluding Morgana, Akechi, and Kasumi) will naturally reduce your available free days, so be careful with your time management. Joker can still rank up with most of the other Confidants, except Toranosuke Yoshida (Sun Confidant). His deadline is November 17; Otherwise, you’ll still be able to do everything possible in the main game.
