To change the name of Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you just need to be able to access the main menu. You will not be able to do this while in dialogue or battle. Elsewhere, simply press ‘X’ to open the menu.

Now, scroll down to the Pokémon whose name you want to change. If they are in your Box, change them to your Group or select “Boxes” from the menu on the right. Once you’ve located your Pokémon, press ‘A’ to bring up a new menu. Select ‘Verification Summary’ and you will be taken to a new screen.

Now all you need to do is press ‘X’ to change your Pokémon’s nickname. Now, simply type the new name and press Enter.
