How to get Bloodmoon Ursaluna in The Teal Mask for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You need to catch 150 Pokémon in Kitakami’s Pokédex before you can consider getting Bloodmoon Ursaluna in The Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Remember: You must complete 150 Kitakami Pokédex entries either by capturing Pokémon in the wild, trading with other players, Tera Raids, or through evolution. Simply seeing a Pokémon doesn’t count.

Once you’ve added 150 Pokémon to Kitakami’s Pokédex, head to the western road leading out of Mossui Town, where you’ll find Perrin. Start a conversation with her and agree to help her with her latest photography project.

However, before you can begin, you will have to defeat her in a battle:

  • Noctowl (Level 68 / Normal and Flying Type)
  • Leafeon (Level 70 / Grass Type)

It is important to note that the levels listed above are for players who have completed the main campaign of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. If you haven’t already, then the Pokémon listed above may have lower levels.)

After defeating her, Perrin will tell you that she is looking for the Bloodmoon Beast, also known as Bloodmoon Ursaluna, and you will help her! This means it’s time to meet Perrin in Timeless Woods.

Perrin will be waiting for you at the bottom of the slope leading to Kitakami Wilds, which is located between Timeless Woods and Fellhorn Gorge. If you’re having trouble finding this location, follow the south cliff of Timeless Woods until you find it.

Upon finding it, Perrin will explain that Bloodmoon Ursaluna only appears in the forest during very foggy nights. However, before he can continue, you will be interrupted by an Ariados (Insect and Poison type). It’s time to smash a rude spider!

With Ariados taken care of, Perrin will decide to set up his tent to help the local Pokémon get used to your presence before completing the quest for Bloodmoon Ursaluna. Once she’s ready, it’s time to talk to her again.

Pokémon Photography Survey Explained in The Teal Mask for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Perrin will now explain that he needs you to take a survey in Timeless Woods to collect data on the local Pokémon. This data can then be used to narrow down the location of Bloodmoon Ursaluna.

To take this survey, you must take photos of 10 different Pokémon that appear in Timeless Woods during foggy nights. Don’t worry about waiting for the right night – simply talk to Perrin when you’re ready to take the survey and you’ll be automatically transported to the correct night.

Taking the survey is pretty easy, you just have to walk through the forest and take pictures of 10 different Pokémon you find. These Pokémon don’t have to be facing the camera, but they should at least be in the center of the frame. It’s also a good idea to keep a small distance between you and the Pokémon you plan to photograph, as you could scare it away. Don’t worry if this happens, there are plenty of Pokémon to photograph.

The Pokémon you take pictures of will be added to a counter at the top of the screen, allowing you to keep track of which ones you’ve photographed, and Perrin will occasionally give you tips on where you can find a Pokémon.

Below are all the Pokémon we found in Timeless Woods:

Please note that we may have missed a Pokémon and it is not necessary to photograph all of the Pokémon below to complete the survey.

sudowoodo

You will find several Sudowoodo throughout the forest posing as trees. We usually find this Pokémon on the western side of Timeless Woods.

geodudo

We found a Geodude near a pile of rocks not far from the center of Timeless Woods. Other Geodudes can also be found near clusters of rocks in the forest.

dark skull

Several Duskulls can be found floating in the forest. They will continue to move while you try to photograph them. But don’t worry: taking a photo of their back will count towards the survey.

If you’re having trouble finding this Ghost-type Pokémon, try searching the northern end of Timeless Woods.

Bravo! Bravo

You may see a Hoothoot hanging from the branches of a tree, but it will fly from tree to tree from time to time. Make sure you keep this in mind when trying to photograph it!

hatenna

You may see two Hatennas in the Eternal Forest, but due to their small size, they are easy to miss. If you want to take a photo of them, we recommend taking a look along the edge of the forest’s western cliff.

Salandit

There is a Salandit inside the cave where you can find the Masterpiece Teacup. You may find it quite difficult to spot Salandit!

glow up

We only found one Illumise during our time in Timeless Woods and it was located on a hill just south of the lake. If you’re having trouble finding him, follow one of the two Volbeats running around this area, as he will come up to greet you. Just make sure they don’t see you!

After completing the survey, you will automatically return to Perrin and have another conversation with her. During this talk, you will be able to identify the location of Bloodmoon Ursaluna. However, you won’t go looking for the Blood Moon Beast right away, so if you want to buy some healing items or make a change to your equipment, now is the right equipment to do so.

How to defeat Bloodmoon Ursaluna in The Teal Mask for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Bloodmoon Ursaluna is a Ground and Normal type Pokémon, so it is weak against Fighting, Grass, Ice, and Water types. Because of this, we highly recommend having a Pokémon with at least one of these types before heading out to find the Bloodmoon Beast in The Teal Mask.

When you’re ready to take on Bloodmoon Ursaluna, talk to Perrin again and you’ll both venture to where this elusive Pokémon is hiding. Fortunately, it won’t take long for Bloodmoon Ursaluna to appear, but he certainly doesn’t like having his photo taken.

Bloodmoon Ursaluna is shine locked, so you won’t be able to get a special variant of this Pokémon.

Your battle with Bloodmoon Ursaluna will play out in the same way as the battle with Titan from the main campaign of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To defeat Bloodmoon Ursaluna, you will need to focus on its weaknesses and keep attacking until its health bar is completely depleted. When that happens, you will be able to catch this rare beast!

We recommend being prepared for her Blood Moon attack, as this can easily turn your health bar into the red, especially since Bloodmoon Ursaluna enjoys using Calm Mind to increase her special attack and defense stats.

Now that Bloodmoon Ursaluna is part of your Pokémon collection, you’ll join Perrin in his shop. After a brief conversation, she will ask you to meet her in Mossui Town.

Return to the place where you originally met her and she’ll give you two additional rewards: a Chosen Scarf and, better yet, a Hisuian Growlithe! With these gifts delivered, Perrin will now depart Kitakami.
