Wurmple was released in December 2017, when Pokémon from the Hoenn region first debuted in Pokémon Go.

In addition to completing your Gen 3 Pokédex, it can also be helpful to know how Wurmple evolutions work for characters like Bug Out. event in August 2022.

How to evolve Wurmple into Cascoon and Silcoon in Pokémon Go

In Pokémon Go, Wurmple’s evolution is a random process, meaning you don’t know if you will get Silcoon or Cascoon.

Fortunately, 12 candies is a very low amount for a Pokémon Go evolution, so you’ll be able to accumulate enough just by catching Wurmple to have multiple attempts if the evolution you’re looking for doesn’t materialize.

From there, the Silcoon and Cascoon evolutions seem very similar at first, but they actually have separate evolution trees.

For Silcoon, you can turn it into a Beautifly for 50 Wurmple Candy. However, if you use this candy on Cascoon, you will end up with Dustox. The main difference here is that Beautifly is a flying/insect type while Dustox is a poison/insect type. Both can be useful, especially if you are trying to complete any related active research tasks available.

Remember to help, you can also use Pinap Berries to increase the amount of Wurmple Candy you get for each catch. It’s always worth checking if there are any events going on, as many of them will have candy bonuses for catching and transferring Pokémon. You can also obtain candy by hatching Wurmple in eggs, walking Wurmple as your friend to get additional candy, or completing any relevant field research that has them as a reward.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Psychic Spectular event is back! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

What else do you need to know about Wurmple in Pokémon Go?

Wurmple was added to Pokémon Go on December 8, 2017. This was when Pokémon from the Hoenn region, also known as Gen 3, were first introduced.

Wurmple is described as the ‘Worm Pokémon’ and has the following entry in the Pokédex on the official Pokémon website:

“Using the spikes on its back, Wurmple peels the bark off trees and feeds on the sap that oozes out. This Pokémon’s legs have suction cups on the tips that allow it to cling to glass without slipping.”

While evolution in Pokémon Go is random, Wurmple is somewhat rare in the main Pokémon games, as it can evolve into Cascoon or Silcoon depending on its personality values, which players generally won’t be able to verify in-game.

Good luck adding Wurmple’s evolutions to your Pokédex and remember to evolve them again (Cascoon to Dustox and Silcoon to Beautifly) to get all the entries.
