This week’s Featured Hour is all about Marauding Pokémon, which means it’s the perfect time to catch a shiny Yungoos in Pokémon Go.
Yungoos and its evolution Gumshoos are two terrifying Pokémon in the world of Pokémon Go. They are horrible in Go Battle League and useless in raids; its only redeeming feature is that, at the right angle, Gumshoos looks a bit like former US President Donald Trump.
Poetic justice aside, the real draw of this week’s Featured Hour is shaking the cobwebs out of our stock of Pokemon. When you see those Yungoos and think “I don’t want any of these”, take the opportunity to get rid of everything else you don’t want and get that double transfer candy bonus reward that runs along with the event!

Yungoos 100% Perfect IV Stats in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Yungoos with perfect IV stats.
Yungoos.
“Perfect” of course means two things in Pokémon Go. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your Pokédex 4*, raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using these three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in Master League, raids, and Go Rocket battles.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, so it’s helpful to know the CPs at which a perfect Yungoos will spawn.
If you’re level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Yungoos 15/15/15:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Gumshoos good at PvP?

Gumshoos is really horrible in Pokémon Go. When we find a Pokemon that has no real uses, we usually try to find a corner case where it might one day shine. The only thing Gumshoos has going for it is that it is a Normal-type with Dark-type attacks, which means it has a huge advantage against Ghost-types. However, its poor stats and the fact that it’s a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist ultimately leaves this ferret Pokémon sitting around doing absolutely nothing useful, almost like the former American…
Fast forward, Bite, Crunch, and Hyper Fang are your best bets. In Great League you can beat non-Sableye Ghosts. You lose to Sableye, along with almost everything else…
We’d like to give you better Ultra League news, but it’s hard to do. You beat Gengar, Trevenant, Runerigus, Snorlax, and Jellicent. Admittedly, Snorlax’s win is impressive, but then you see almost immediate losses against Swampert, Walrein, Charizard, and Cresselia, and a slow loss against Giratina.
The Master League is out of the question. Don’t run Gumshoos in Master League.
The Hidden Gems Season is coming to an end. Before it ends, try to finish the special research missions Fascinating Facets and Sky High. You can also complete a route and fight in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to run into Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Shiny Yungoos was released in March 2022, as part of the Welcome to Alola event, along with Rockruff and Lycanroc.
What do shiny Yungoos look like?
Long story short, the shimmering Yungoos and shimmering Gumshoos went to the salon and washed pink to match.
If there is any change in coloration between the brown hair or coat, it is so subtle that it is not worth covering up. The most striking difference is that the golden locks of both the Yungoos and the normal Gumshoos are replaced with bright pink. We love.

Other Things to Know About Yungoos Highlight Hour
Spotlight Hour always brings a bonus you can take advantage of, and this week it’s a double transfer sweet. As always, this runs for the entire hour and affects more than just the Pokémon in the spotlight.
This is a very important advantage to take full advantage of, especially for lower level trainers looking to fill out their Pokédex. The smartest way to maximize this is to have a Tag in your Pokemon storage just for this purpose.
We recommend creating one called ‘Transfer’, where you can place the Pokémon you don’t want or need. Instead of transferring them as you discover them, retain them for events like these, when you can transfer them in bulk. All of that candy adds up very quickly and is especially useful when transferring something like a Mewtwo for double the candy or after a big event like the Hoenn Tour!
It’s also good to note that, thanks to Yungoos being a Normal type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.
