Basculin locations in Pokémon Legends: Arceus explained

Basculin can be caught in three biomes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus: Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands, and Alabaster Islands.

In the Cobalt Coastlands, basculin can be fished in the waters of Tranquility Cove and Islespy Shore. Meanwhile, in Coronet Highlands, Basculin can be found in Fabled Spring.

Finally, baculina can be caught in Lake Acuity and Heart’s Crag in the Alabaster Islands. If you have access to this biome, we recommend capturing a Basculin from here, because their high levels mean that they will know one of the moves necessary for their evolution.

How to evolve Basculin to Basculegion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

To turn Basculin into Basculegion in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the chosen Basculin must take 294 knockback damage from its attacks without fainting.

This recoil damage does not have to be earned in a single battle; instead, you can spread this process over several fights to prevent Basculin from fainting. However, it is important to heal Basculin after each fight, because the amount of HP loss this evolution method requires can easily knock out your Pokémon.

When it comes to knockback moves, your best options are between Wave Crash, which Basculin learns at level 34, or Double Edge, which becomes available starting at level 43. Remember: Basculin can learn any of these moves, but not currently in their move set, you can use the ‘Switch Move’ function to swap them back.

When working on this evolution, we recommend targeting Pokémon Basculin, as a water type has an advantage over fire, ground, and rock types. Doing so will help ensure that the battle ends quickly and in your favor thanks to Wave Crash being, unsurprisingly, a Water-type move.

If your Basculin is at a high level, we recommend finding your prey in Coronet Highlands or Crimson Mirelands. Both locations contain a selection of Rock and Ground-type Pokémon, especially Coronet Highlands, where you’ll find both Gravelers and Sudowoodos.

Once Basculin has taken 294 or more knockback damage, the ability to evolve it will be unlocked and you can do so whenever you want!
