How to Unlock Stagnant Shadows in Honkai Star Rail

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a bit, as Stagnant Shadows is only unlocked in Honkai: Star Rail after reaching Trailblazer Rank 30 and competing in the Balance Test: Part 2, which increases your Balance Level to 3.

After defeating the last enemy during the balance test, you will automatically unlock all available stagnant shadows, so you will have to do anything else after the test.

You can increase your Trailblazer level to 30 by continuing to complete quests, open chests, farm resources in places like Chalices and Corrosion Caverns, and explore the Simulated Universe.

Although we don’t recommend doing this, if you’re really in a hurry, you can consume fuel to recharge your Trailblaze Power and take on more Masteries like Calyxes so you can farm Trailblazer EXP faster. However, this is one of the rarer resources, so we recommend saving it for when you really need it.

Version 1.3 is here! Be sure to redeem those new codes for Stellar Jade if you want Imbibitor Lunae or Fu Xuan, and check out all the characters in our regularly updated tier list. For everything else, we’ve got pages on the next Banner, MOE quiz answers, how to get more Star Rail passes, Stagnant Shadows, and a list of English voice actors.

Honkai Star Rail Stagnant Shadows

Stagnant Shadows is another type of challenge found in your ‘Survival Rating’, like Chalices or Echoes of War. When you defeat enemies in Stagnant Shadow challenges, you gain character Ascension materials. The material you get depends on the Shadow you choose to fight.

You can fast travel to a Stagnant Shadow by clicking on one in your Survival Rating.

Each Stagnant Shadow has different types of enemies to fight, so you’ll need to change your party lineup before taking on each one if you want to take them out as quickly as possible.

There are also different levels of enemies you can face for each individual Stagnant Shadow. They will be more difficult, so you have to be more careful with the characters you bring, but you will get more resources to face higher level Shadows.

Lastly, remember that you can use auto battle and double speed switches to clear Stagnant Shadows faster, but if you choose to challenge him at a higher level, it will take much longer for your characters to complete a battle, or even all of them. You will be knocked down and will not receive any resources.
