The first Harry Potter Wizards Unite Fan Festival will take place August 31-September 1 at Water River State Park in Indianapolis.
This festival will also introduce both dragons to the world of Wizards Unite and Global Challenges. These challenges will allow players from around the world to participate in the Fan Festival and unlock some special bonuses of their own along the way.

Wizards Unite Global Challenges and Rewards Explained
Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Indianapolis because, just like in Pokémon Go, Wizards Unite has a series of global challenges.
The global challenges will take place from August 31 to September 1, at the same time as the Fan Festival.
Although Niantic has yet to confirm the runtime of the Global Challenges, if they decide to follow Pokémon Go Fest’s lead, the Global Challenges will start and end at the same time as the event.
This will be at 4pm BST / 11am ET on August 31st at midnight (00:00) BST / 7pm ET on September 1st.
Players around the world will be able to find a collection of very special Portkey Portmanteaus.
Opening these Portkeys will transport you to the Forbidden Forest, where you can find one of four dragon eggs.
There are four Portkey Portmanteaus and each one matches the color of the dragon egg they contain.
Chinese Fireball, Antipodean Opaleye, Peruvian Adder’s Tooth and Common Welsh Green.
Each egg is linked to a bonus, which will be unlocked if players collectively find 1,000,000 of each egg.
The bonuses are:
- 1,000,000 Chinese Fireball Eggs Found = 25% Magic XP Bonus
- 1,000,000 Antipodean Opaleye eggs found = ½ walking distance from Portmanteau
- 1,000,000 Peruvian Addertooth eggs found = ½ potion brewing time
- 1,000,000 Common Welsh Green Eggs = 2x Dark Detector Duration
If unlocked, these bonuses will be in effect from September 2 to 9, 2019, beginning and ending retrospectively on:
- UK: 6pm (BST)
- Europe: 7:00 p.m. (CEST)
- US East Coast: 1 pm (EDT)
- US West Coast: 10 am (PDT)
What rewards will Fan Festival attendees unlock for all Wizards Unite players?
The first Wizards Unite Fan Festival is all about dragons.
Not only will festival-goers be able to help dragon expert Charlie Weasley with a series of special dragon-themed tasks, but they will also have the chance to unlock a worldwide Dragon Day.
By returning 150,000 dragons during the Fan Festival, attendees will unlock the 3-hour Dragon Day event.
During the event, each region will be visited by a dragon that is not normally found there. Common Welsh greens, for example, which normally only appear in Europe and Africa, could appear in America.
Dragon Day is expected to take place on September 7, during the following times:
- UK: 11am to 2pm (BST)
- Europe: 12:00 to 15:00 (CEST)
- US East Coast: 2 pm to 5 pm (EDT)
- US West Coast: 11am to 2pm (PDT)
Before you begin your magical adventure, you’ll want to join a Hogwarts House in Harry Potter Wizards Unite. After that, you’ll need to learn how to fight so you can compete in magical challenges in fortresses or how to use greenhouses so you can perform potion master notes. You can also unlock Portmanteaus Portkeys and choose a profession between Auror, Magizoologist or Professor. Don’t forget to participate in the monthly Community Day event either!
How to attend the first Wizards Unite Fan Festival
The first Harry Potter Wizards Unite Fan Festival will be held at Water River State Park in Indianapolis.
The event will take place over two days, August 31 and September 1, and will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (ET).
Tickets will be allocated through a drawing, which you can register for through the Wizards Unite app. Remember: entering the draw. no guarantee you a ticket.
If you are selected, two tickets will be available for purchase. A regular ticket to the event for $30 and an early access ticket, which will allow you to enter the event at 9 am, for $40.
