Fortnite Android beta invites, how to install Fortnite on Android and the Galaxy outfit explained

Fortnite on Android sees Epic’s battle royale game expanding onto another new platform.

Available all summer on iOS, Android users will also have access as part of an invite-only Android beta, unless they’re playing on a Samsung device.

If you’re just getting started, our Fortnite Battle Royale tips and tricks can give you some helpful hints.

Update: August 9: After months of waiting, the Fortnite beta for Android is here, complete with an invitation system and an exclusive Galaxy outfit for compatible Android phones. All the details are below.

How to get an invite to the Fortnite Android beta and install Fortnite on Android

After months of waiting, the Fortnite beta for Android is finally here.

First, you can bypass the following steps entirely if you own a compatible Samsung device. Specifically, these are the S7/S7 Edge, S8/S8+, S9/S9+, Note 8, Note 9, Tab S3 and Tab S4.

Don’t have the above? Then you must register to receive a Fortnite beta invitation for Android. That is how:

  • 1. You can register to receive invitations to start playing from the official site. To get started, register your interest there.
  • 2. From there, you play the waiting game. When you have an invitation, you’ll receive an email like this (except, of course, for Android instead of iOS):
  • 3. It’s time to download the Fortnite mobile app. The invitation email will include a URL that you can follow. Although it’s accessible whether you have an invite or not, you still need an invitation to log in and play.
  • 4. Download the Fortnite app and load it. You will then be asked if you received an invitation or not. If you received the email, go ahead and log in and you will start playing. If you haven’t, you won’t have access yet. If you wish, you can keep the app downloaded on your phone and when you receive the confirmation email, your account will have been authorized to log in and start playing.

How do you invite a friend to Fortnite mobile?

On iOS, the day after Epic invited its first wave of players to play Fortnite on mobile, it allowed each player to invite their own friends to play.

Due to the change in implementation on Android, we assume this might work differently. But if the Fortnite Android beta works similarly, here’s how it works.

If you have the app, load it in the lobby and a button should appear on the right. By pressing it, you will be able to copy and paste an invitation code to send to your friends, granting them access.

Using the invite will also add those players to your friends list.

When is the full release date for Fortnite for Android?

If you don’t want to deal with the whole invite system, the timing of when the game will leave beta and become a full Android version is uncertain.

However, according to leaks from xna-developers.com, Fortnite Android will have a general release starting September 23. Of course, plans can change, even if the leak predicted a beta launch on August 9, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Anyway, if you hear anything else in the meantime, such as third-party claims that it’s suddenly available to everyone, with sites offering download links, don’t believe it. There are phishing scams circulating and Epic PR Nick Chester has warned players against:

  • HTC: 10, U Ultra, U11 / U11+, U12+
  • Lenovo: Moto Z/Z Droid, Moto Z2 Force
  • Sony: Xperia: XZ/XZs, XZ1, XZ2

If your device is not listed above, but has the following specifications, then it might also work:

  • OS: Android 64-bit, 5.0 or higher
  • RAM: 3GB or more
  • GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher

By the way, if you are experiencing poor performance, then developer Epic Games is working on it:

We have seen reports that some players on 4GB Android devices are experiencing an issue causing poor performance. This is because multiple apps are running in the background, leaving the device without enough memory for Fortnite. We are investigating and working to fix it!

It is unknown if (or how) this list will be expanded in the coming months. But for now, consider these the devices and specs you need to play at launch.

How to get the Fortnite Galaxy outfit

If you specifically have the new Samsung Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4, you’ll get access to an exclusive ‘Galaxy Gear’:

Note that these devices aren’t available yet – the Samsung Note 9 is rumored to have an August 24 release date, so you won’t be able to get your hands on it for a while yet.

According to Epic, it will “appear as a free item that you can claim in the in-game Fortnite store” once you’ve played the game. There’s no telling if it’s as simple as loading the app on your phone, but it sounds pretty simple either way.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4 is here! To help you get started with this heist-themed season, we have guides on how to alert a security camera, protect data from Forecast Towers, and destroy weakened security walls or doors. There’s also a new Victory Umbrella! In the meantime, learn what the best weapons are, the current boosts, how to get XP quickly, how to use the best PC builds, and earn a crown of victory.

How to get a Fortnite on iOS

Fortnite first arrived on iOS as part of an invite-only event, with codes first coming from Epic and then offering those players three invites to pass along to their friends, but it’s now available to download for free.

Of course, you must have select devices, specifically an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4/Pro/Air 2/2017, all running iOS 11, for it to work.

Simply search for the game in the App Store, log in to your Epic Games account, and start playing.

How is Fortnite mobile different from other versions?

In March 2018, Epic Games announced that Fortnite Battle Royale would be coming to mobile devices as “the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.” (And, of course, the Nintendo Switch version released later.)

The developer further explained that it would have:

  • Same gameplay and content.
  • Same map
  • Same weekly updates (which we assume include seasons and new challenges)

It even has cross-platform play (and progression) on iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Switch and PS4 consoles. either Xbox. (To clarify, while you can’t have PS4 and Xbox users playing together, if you’re on mobile or PC, you can play with the owner of either platform. However, Microsoft boss Phil Spencer told I would like all platforms to work together without barriers. !)

If you’re curious, here’s how the controls differ in combat and construction modes.

How does it work in practice? Our Christian Donlan has played some games and confirms that it works quite well. The controls are naturally different and some changes have been made to adapt to a touchscreen, such as weapons automatically picking up and doors opening when you approach, but otherwise it’s the same game.
