How we chose our list of the best free agents and bargains in FM21
Using the game’s scouting system, we’ve created a list to look for players with ratings of at least 14 (out of 20) in two or more skill fields, and more than 10 in two others. Many of the following players surpass them. These skills cover mental, technical and physical abilities, which can define not only how a player performs on the field, but also how he interacts with you and other team members.
We set the maximum age at 33, so you can be sure you’ll get at least a couple of years out of some of these players. Normally, goalkeepers are difficult to find, but this year we have two players who are not linked to any club, both with the potential to reach 20 in managerial rating (the most important for goalkeepers).
There are many other highlights. KRC Genk’s Gabriel Leveh seems to be the best cheap defender you can get, and he’s only 20 years old. Rental Santos look to be a potential midfield beast and are somehow available for the princely sum of £0. And we thought it would be good to highlight Abdelrafik Gerard because of the flexibility of where you can play him on the field. Now it’s just a question of whether your team can become a formidable league rival.
