Fire Emblem Engage Support Conversations Explained

Fire Emblem has had supporting ties to the characters for a long time and they’re back in Engage. Simply put, a Support level represents your emotional connection to a character and how you know and relate to them on a personal level.

All of your allies in Fire Emblem Engage have a bond level related to the protagonist Alear. As Alear grows closer to his allies (more on this below), they will progress through new support levels with each one, unlocking new conversations that reveal new details about said characters in the process.

Basically, if you want to get to know the characters in Fire Emblem Engage on a more personal level, beyond just giving them orders on the battlefield, check out the support conversations. It’s here that you’ll be able to strike up conversations with your friends, discovering new details about their personalities and what they like and don’t like, for example.

The entire game becomes a hell of a lot more compelling if you’re willing to put in the time to level up your supports with characters, so we simply can’t recommend it enough.

How to Unlock Support Conversations in Fire Emblem Engage

But as for how to level up your Support rank with characters, there are a few ways to do it. First, it’s worth noting that each character starts with her Support level unranked with Alloy. After this, you can unlock support levels C, B, A and finally S with characters.

To increase an ally’s bond level with Alear, you’ll want to do activities with him in Somniel. The main source of leveling up an ally’s Support rank is to invite them to dine with you in the Cafe Terrace area of Somniel. Simply approach the desk at the back of the room to begin.

Talk to whichever character is working as a cook that day behind the desk (characters switch between each other periodically) and select ‘OPTION’. Now you will be faced with a menu in which you can choose two allies with whom to share a meal. Note that the available characters may change here, depending on who you unlock as an ally in Fire Emblem Engage.

Once you’ve selected two friends to cook with, you’ll be taken to a menu with dishes you can prepare for them. Each ally has different tastes, so you will have to choose a dish that both of your chosen friends like, only one of them, or even neither of them, depending on the ingredients you have available at that moment.

This is the primary method for leveling up Bond ranks with characters in Fire Emblem Engage. Aside from this, you can approach any Somniel character and give them a gift, and it goes without saying that you’ll want to give an ally a gift that specifically suits their tastes.

If a character likes to exercise, for example, you’ll want to check the description of a gift item on your Convoy inventory page and find someone who likes to workout and give it to them. Pay attention to which characters are located around Somniel: Alfred can usually be found near the training area, so we can infer that he will like a training-related gift, which will subsequently increase his support range with Alear.

Additionally, you can also place your allies next to each other on the battlefield to increase their support level. If Boucheron is located next to Alear, for example, and the latter character performs an action such as attacking an enemy or healing an ally, the Support range between the two characters will increase because they were located next to each other when the fight took place. action.

Fire Emblem Engage Support Conversation Rewards

We’ll be completely honest here: there are no real rewards for progressing through Bond levels with characters in Fire Emblem Engage. Once a support conversation has developed with a character, you’ll return to Somniel, with no real items or item-related rewards to show for it.

That’s because Fire Emblem Engage’s Bond system is specifically designed to highlight each character’s emotional and character-based strengths, rather than doling out rewards for every time you converse with them. This may be disappointing for some players, but it is still an important detail to keep in mind.

Are there romance options in Fire Emblem Engage?

Yes, romance options return in Fire Emblem Engage. We mentioned earlier that the final support level for a character is S rank, and it is at this special, highest level where protagonist Alear can romance characters.

Simply put, all you need to do to romance a character is raise their Support level to S rank. Once you have reached the level, you can grant a special item called ‘Covenant Ring’ to a character to romance them. There is a problem here, however, as although all characters can reach that final level, not all characters in Fire Emblem Engage actually open themselves up to the player for romance.

Only a select number of characters have an explicit romance option in Fire Emblem Enage. These are Citrinne, Lapis, Panette, Chloe, Merrin, Ivy, Alfred, Louis, Jade, Bunet, Seadall, Diamant, and Kagetsu (note that we’ve excluded some romance options here for spoiler purposes). These are the only Engage characters who have explicit romantic stories available once you reach S rank with them.

It is very important to note that Alear’s gender choice does not influence these romantic options. You can simply fall in love with whoever you want, whether it’s explicitly a gay or lesbian romance, because Intelligent Systems doesn’t exclude players from romance options if they choose male Alear over female Alear, or vice versa.
