Elden Ring Radagon of the Golden Order tips and strategy

Radagon of the Golden Order is the penultimate main boss fight of Elden Ring.

You will need to have passed through Leyndell, Ash Capital and defeated Hoarah Loux to come face to face with Radagon of the Golden Order.

Radagon of the Golden Order is one of the toughest bosses in the game, but since Spirit Ash Summons are available in this boss fight, we definitely recommend putting them to good use.

How to prepare for Radagon of the Golden Order

First of all, you’ll want to make sure you have some sort of protection against Holy damage. While most of Radagon of the Golden Order’s attacks are physical, they do have some Holy-based attacks in their back pocket, so it pays to be protected against them.

If you’re good at reducing the parry time of boss attacks, you’ll definitely want to use a shield for this fight, because there are plenty of opportunities to parry Radagon.

Radagon has a lot of health, simply put. If you opt for a melee build for this fight, which we recommend, you’ll want to bring a strong two-handed weapon with you.

There’s been a lot of debate online about whether Radagon is actually weak to Bleed-based damage, but the general consensus (and everything we’ve experienced) seems to indicate that the boss is not weak to Bleed attacks.

Radagon of the Golden Order Tips: How to Beat Radagon of the Golden Order

Radagon has a big hammer and loves to hit you with it. The boss will usually start the fight by charging towards you, waiting until the last second to throw a huge hammer at you.

The trick with this, as with many of Radagon’s attacks, is to try to dodge at the last possible second, and not get carried away with dodging when the boss immediately starts preparing for an attack.

As the fight progresses, Radagon of the Golden Order will chain more attacks with this aforementioned one.

These will usually all involve big hammer blows, and while you can definitely parry these attacks if you’re skilled at timing them right, the easiest option is to dodge the spin to the side of any attack and hit Radagon with a bang. or two as quickly as possible.

In another common attack, the boss rises into the air with a spear made of holy material, before launching it directly at you.

The important thing here is to dodge the spin out of the way as the boss’s hand moves forward, not as the spear leaves Radagon’s hand, or you’ll get caught in the explosion.

Radagon also has some massive area-based attacks he can perform. If Radagon’s foot ignites, he is about to be knocked back, causing an area-of-effect attack with Holy damage to rush out near him.

You’ll want to dodge right when your foot hits the ground, because there’s a split-second delay between that and the area attack being fired, which can easily catch you if you dodge too soon.

Also, if Radagon rises into the air with his hammer glowing, be prepared to dodge him. The boss is about to hit the ground with the hammer three times, each triggering a large area attack that reaches further with each successive hit.

Dodge just as the hammer hits the ground, but don’t get carried away by dodging too soon with the final blow, because there is a short pause while Radagon prepares to hit the ground with the hammer.

Finally, Radagon has a massive stun attack that he can hit you with. If the hammer is burning with Holy damage and the boss is slowly advancing towards you, be prepared to dodge sideways as he is about to hit you with a big grappling attack.

If you don’t dodge this, Radagon’s hammer will hit you twice and you will have no way to evade it, and this can kill even the toughest Tarnished.

Golden Order Radagon’s Reward

Surprise: there is no reward with Radagon! This is because this fight is far from over, and although Radagon is out of action, you are about to face the Elden Beast itself directly.

The Elden Beast fight is the last one in Elden Ring, so it makes sense that FromSoftware would pull some tricks by having you fight two bosses in a row.
