Elden Ring Side Quests for Beginners – Side Quests You Need to Do

If you’re looking for magic early in the game, we can suggest where to find the location of the staff and a master of sorcery, and if you want to look beyond weaponry, our best armor sets can help you.

The best early weapon in Elden Ring

Your starting weapon will work fine for most of the opening hours, but when you want to hit the proper critical path and head to Castle Stormveil, or even some of the meatier locations within Limgrave, then you’ll need some decent weaponry.

Perhaps the best starting weapon in Elden Ring is the Twinblade, which is a stone’s throw from where you emerge in Limgrave. There are other powerful weapons, some of which we’ll discuss shortly, but in terms of accessibility in terms of location and how far away it is compared to starting class weapons, it’s something we highly recommend tracking down.

Where to find Twinblade in Elden Ring.

To find Twinblade’s location, head south of Lake Agheel and approach the dragon-burnt ruins.

In the southeasternmost corner of the ruins, you will find a walled structure that can only be accessed by jumping with the help of your horse.

Once inside, you will find an underground passage. The inner chest contains the Twinblade.

The Twinblade comes with the stat requirements of 10 Strength and 18 Dexterity, the latter putting it out of reach of any starting class choice. As such, you may need to farm runes in order to level stats high enough to handle them.

Once you do, it functions as both a fast but strong one-handed sword and a powerful two-handed weapon that, with a couple of Smithing Stone upgrades, will make a decent dent in the more challenging enemies in the areas to come.

Other best weapons you can find early

If you don’t like Twinblade’s stat requirements, other weapons available in the early hours of Elden Ring include the following Limgrave enemy drops…

The Bandit’s Curved Sword is a powerful weapon that may be dropped by certain enemies, such as a skeleton found in the river north of Lake Agheel (just north of where the glowing jellyfish spawn at night in the cave, and before of the gust of air that Torrent can rise when jumping).

The stat requirements are affordable (11 Strength and 13 Dexterity) and while the drop rate is low, we found that you can take out the group of skeletons here in a loop in about a minute before fast traveling back. to Grace in the Murkwater Catacombs for the north only.

Elsewhere, the Grave Scythe can drop from skeletons wielding it, such as those in the graveyard just east of Saintsbridge in northern Limgrave.

The 17 Strength and 13 Dexterity requirements give you a slow but very powerful weapon to wield in the early game; Our recommendation is to use it as a jumping and slashing weapon before swapping it for something a little faster to take out enemies. It also has a useful passive blood loss accumulation effect.

Meanwhile, defeating the mercenaries has a small chance to drop a dismounter. It has a requirement of 19 strength and 16 dexterity, which is quite high at the beginning of the game. You can find a mercenary location very early on the north side of the beach, near where it starts in Limgrave; Otherwise, they can often be found in bandit camps, such as the one at the southeast end of Limgrave, mentioned below.

If you are not patient enough to wait for a weapon to be dropped through the sources above, then you can pick up a Great Sword, a Heavy Sword, from a treasure chest in the bandit camp in the southwest corner of Limgrave.

Located at the foot of some ruins, this camp is heavily guarded, including several mercenaries (one on horseback!) who, as mentioned above, can also drop a tire changer. However, if you’re careful, it’s possible to sneak in from the east, open the chest, and grab the weapon before the worst of the sentinels fall on you.

With the ability to traverse most of Elden Ring’s regions early on, there are likely to be many more powerful weapons early in the game that can be easily found if you know where to look.

The best melee weapons for dexterity, strength and magic.

Once you get your hands on a strong early weapon and build your character, you’ll be able to test out your preferred playstyle and what stats you want to invest in or build up depending on your starting class choice.

For example, for high strength and/or dexterity weapons, you’ll want to start with high strength and dexterity stats, such as confessor, wanderer, prisoner, and samurai, and then continue leveling up. But some weapons will also require investing in faith or intelligence.

Here are our top gun picks based on various stats:

  • The best skill weapon is the Bloodhound’s Fang, a large curved sword that can be found near the beginning of the game in Limgrave, although you’ll have to overcome a fairly difficult boss fight to get it.
  • The best force weapon is the Grafted Blade Greatsword, which is found in Castle Morne in the Weeping Peninsula, a region south of Limgrave that can be accessed from the beginning of the game.
  • The best melee magic weapon is the Sword of Night and Flame, which can deal both magic and fire damage. However, it requires an equally significant amount of intelligence and faith. You will find it in Caria Manor in northwest Liurnia, which is on the way to the start of the Ranni quest.

Once you’ve decided on a starting class and a starting keepsake item, you first need to figure out how to level up, how to respec, and how to use Ashes of War. Do you need any directions from there? Our Elden Ring walkthrough and Elden Ring boss order can help you know where to go next, but we also recommend looking for Golden Seeds, Sacred Tears, Crystal Tears, Talismans, and some of our top weapon and armor picks. If you are nearing the end of the game, we can help you with the Volcano Manor and Rykard quest, the Haligtree Secret Medallion locations, solving Ordina, the Liturgical Town puzzle, Millicent’s quest, Commander Niall, Morgott, Godskin Duo , Maliketh and Malenia.

Other best weapons in Elden Ring

Of course, there are plenty of other great weapon options for melee builds, though remember to make the most of them, you’ll want to upgrade them. For special weapons, you will need Somber Smithing Stones.

For dex builds that want something more agile, a dagger is one way to go, and one of the best is Reduvia, which drops Bloody Finger Nerijus, one of the first invading NPCs you’re likely to encounter.

He will invade you as you head towards a ravine north of Lake Agheel, near the Murkwater Caves. While he’s intimidating at first, luckily you’ll also have Finger Hunter Yura stepping in shortly after to help you, so if you’re struggling, he tries to stay back until he arrives.

The stats are quite accessible: 5 strength, 13 dexterity, although you will need 13 arcana, and while it is a dagger to use up close, its unique ability also provides range as it fires blood projectiles.

You can obtain high-powered melee weapons by using the memories of major bosses you have defeated. One of the most powerful is the Starscourge Greatsword, which can be yours after defeating Starscourge Radhan, a tough battle at Redmane Castle in Caleid, although it is not essential to completing the story.

However, not only will you need 38 Strength and 12 Dexterity but also 15 Intelligence to wield this great curved sword, but it is also excellent at taking down enemies, especially with its unique abilities Starcaller Cry that draws enemies in with a gravitational wave followed by a powerful blow.

However, if you prefer a souvenir melee weapon that doesn’t require you to worry about magic stats, then you would do well to have Godrick’s Axe, which is also one of the first you can unlock, as it is one of the weapons that you can get. after defeating Godrick at Castle Stormveil and then trading the Keepsake of the Grafted item with the NPC at the Round Table.

It requires 34 Strength and 22 Dexterity to wield and as a great ax it can be slow, but its unique ability delivers a ferocious AOE shockwave that can hit up to three times to annihilate mobs.

For another great magical weapon, look no further than the Dark Moon Greatsword, which transforms into FromSoftware’s classic Moonlight Greatsword that deals frost damage and even fires moonlight blasts when charged.

Obtaining this weapon requires completing Ranni’s quest, where you will eventually find it high above Liurnia in the Moonlight Altar and deep in the Cathedral of Manus Celes.

It’s a long mission that will take you most of the game to complete, but it’s hugely rewarding. Considering this path is also the way to get Starscourge Greatsword and Mimic Tear Ashes, the best Elden Ring summon, there’s no reason not to do it!
