Diablo 4 Season 1 Details

The limited-time mechanic included in Diablo 4 Season 1, Season of Wicked, is Wicked Hearts, which basically act as special gems.

Here’s everything new coming to Diablo Season 1:

The three biggest changes are the introduction of Malignant Hearts, a Season Journey, and the first Battle Pass.

For more details, including a list of all Evil Hearts, check out our dedicated Diablo 4 Evil Hearts page.

Continuing the way seasons work in Diablo 3, each season in Diablo 4 will include a new mechanic not available in the base game. In the first season of Diablo 4, this is the mechanic of Evil Hearts, which we will meet during a new quest line starring Cormond, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light.

Season of Evil adds 32 Evil Hearts in four categories. You gain evil hearts by defeating completely corrupted enemies that appear after performing a ritual on partially corrupted enemies. The harder an evil creature is to kill, the stronger their evil hearts will be.

When you get them, Evil Hearts are placed in special infested slots in your Jewels instead of Normal Gems. They work similarly to Gems, but Evil Hearts contain new and unique bonuses that can completely alter your builds.

To help you acquire more evil hearts, evil tunnels, a new type of dungeon, have been added to Season 1. These are replayable and contain some difficult evil creatures to face, including Varshan the Consumed, a new boss.

Season 1 introduces Diablo 4’s first Battle Pass and Seasonal Journey.

Participating in Seasons is free, as is the base Battle Pass tier, but you have to pay £8.39/$9.88 for the premium Battle Pass tier. Please note that the Premium Battle Pass does not contain any in-game energy resources and instead unlocks tiers that contain cosmetics exclusive to a season or the Premium store.

Get ready, Tramp.

The seasonal journey in Diablo 4 contains chapters with specific tasks to complete. As you complete these tasks and progress through the chapters of the Season Journey, you’ll earn rewards such as Legendary Skins, a Mastery Title, and a Scroll of Amnesia, which provides a free reset of the Paragon skill tree and board.

As you complete tasks on your Seasonal Journey, you’ll also earn Favor, which is required to unlock free and premium Battle Pass rewards. You can also get Favor simply by killing enemies, completing quests, and participating in other activities.
