Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer roadmap, release time and new features explained

Find out how and when you’ll repel the Vex attack with our Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer guide.

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer, also known as Season 14, comes as the second major update in the game’s fourth year.

The Season of the Chosen has officially come to an end. With the arrival of the so-called endless night in the Tower, a new paired activity for 6 players and a weekly mission join the list. The Vault of Glass from the original Destiny also returns (with a few changes) and you can expect a new social space like the previous season.

Elsewhere, keep your eyes peeled for more exotic and legendary gear, a revamped transmog system, and of course, a battle pass with 100 tiers of rewards, access to a new type of chest and upgrades, and various rewards .

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer roadmap: What’s new for Season 14

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is the third season of content in the game’s fourth year, following Season of the Chosen, which began on February 9.

This season’s story focuses on Mithrax, the iconic Fallen Kell and former Captain of the House of Dusk who founded the House of Light. This time, Mithrax leads a group of enigmatic Eliksni who wish to be closer to the Traveler, for reasons still unknown. In addition, this character carries the ability to combat Vex technology, which has invaded the Last City, imposing an endless night with increasingly more danger lurking around him.

Here’s the roadmap for Season 14 content:

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer Release Time, Release Date, and End Date Explained

Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, May 11, at the following weekly reset schedule:

  • UK: 6pm (BST)
  • Europe: 7:00 p.m. (CEST)
  • US East Coast: 1:00 p.m. EDT
  • US West Coast: 10 am (PDT)

Downtime for the new season will begin 15 minutes earlier than previous times, and the patch will roll out when the weekly reset goes live. Once downloaded, you should be able to start playing.

Meanwhile, Season of the Splicer has an end date of Tuesday, August 24, also around the same reboot time.

There’s a list of things to do before the new season arrives, including:

  • Claim any season titles you have won
  • Dismantling Shaders before transmog
  • Visit Shaxx and Drifter to claim Valor and Infamy rank rewards
  • Redeem remaining Season Pass rewards across all classes
  • Achieving victory at the Guardian Games closing ceremony

There is a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Veterans and newcomers alike will most likely visit the updated version of Vault of Glass several times to discover what’s new. The addition of difficulty modifiers and challenges throughout the season should also give plenty of reasons to return to the raid.

Destiny 2 PS5 vs Xbox Series X|S: a true next-gen advantage

Even more curious is the Splicer Gauntlet, which can be charged with Ether and used to hack the Vex network, where most of the new activities will take place. This will grant access to Conflux chests, which drop seasonal loot and decrypted data. As always, figuring out how everything will work is part of the appeal of Destiny 2.
