How to find the Giant White Stallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Finding the giant white stallion in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is part of a quest that you can find at the Highland Stables in the southern half of Hyrule. The quest will simply ask you to take a photo of the giant horse to place in the stable, but we are going to do something additional. After all, you’ll be making a long trip to get to the horse!

Horses are a key part of exploring the environment in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You can learn to tame normal horses or you can go out and find the golden horse if you want something fancy sitting in the stables.

We’re here to show you how to find the Giant White Stallion in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as how to start the ‘A Picture for Highland Stable’ quest.

How to start the quest A Picture for Highland Stable in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Before you can search for the giant white stallion, you must start the quest ‘A Picture for the Highland Stable’ in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. To start this quest, you need to head to the Highland Stable.

Highland Stable can be found in Faron, in the southern half of Hyrule. We have marked its exact location on the map below. The coordinates of Highland Stable are 0518, -3442, 0047.

When you get to the stable, go inside and head over to the side that has some tables and chairs. Then look on the wall next to this area, you should see a blank frame. Approach this box and press ‘A’ to interact with it.

Padok will now start talking to Link, and to cut a long conversation short, Padok wants a photo of the Giant White Stallion to frame. This is the beginning of the quest ‘A Picture for Highland Stable’.

How to find the giant white stallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To find the giant white stallion, you need to head to Horse God Lake, which is located southeast of Highland Stable. There are several ways to get to the lake. You can attach a Zonai rocket to a shield, fly and paraglide towards the lake, you can climb through the environment near the lake, or you can ride your own horse along the path leading to it. We opted for the latter.

If you are taking the path around the lake, you may encounter a stone slope as you approach the Horse God Bridge. You don’t need to fight this if you don’t want to, you can continue across the bridge as it won’t follow you here.

This is where you can find the giant white stallion:

Once you cross the Horse God Bridge, follow the path until you reach a dead end. This is where you should see the giant white stallion grazing in the grass. The approximate coordinates of the giant white stallion are 0786, -3723, 0081.

To complete the ‘A Picture of Highland Stable’ quest, you just need to take a picture of the horse. Remember that this photo will go on the wall of the barn, so you may want to take your time to take a good photo.

Once you have a photo you’re happy with, you have two options. You can go back to Highland Stable and talk to Padok to finish the quest, or you can tame the giant white stallion.

How to tame the Giant White Stallion in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

To tame the giant white stallion in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll need quite a bit of stamina. If you’re having trouble taming this horse, you can always make some stamina-boosting meals and elixirs in the Highland Stable pot. You can find many restless crickets in the area around the barn mowing the grass, crickets are a decent elixir.

If you are still having trouble taming the horse, you may need to visit more shrines to obtain Lights of Blessing and improve your stamina at the Goddess Statues.

As you would if you were trying to tame a normal horse, you need to sneak up behind it without being seen. It helps to have a stealth-boosting food or elixir here. Once you sneak up behind the horse, press ‘A’ to mount it when prompted and press ‘L’ repeatedly to calm it down.

Keep an eye on your resistance wheel; If you reach its latter half, we highly recommend that you consume one of its stamina-boosting items.

You must hold on and continue calming the giant white stallion until he finally calms down. When he does, take him back to Highland Stable to register him. The only thing to remember when registering this horse is that you cannot customize its saddle or bridle due to its size.

When you’re at the stable and have registered your stallion (Pebble is a good name for a horse, right?), talk to Padok and choose the “Add Photo” conversation option. Then, you can choose which photo you want to put on the wall and Padok will hang it immediately.

By completing this quest, you will earn a pony point, a high level meal, and (if you have tamed them) the giant white stallion.
