Everything you need to know about what’s coming in Season of the Lost.
Destiny 2 Season of the Lost, also known as Season 15, is the third major update in the game’s fourth year.
Unlike most new seasons, which are heavily teased before their release, Season of the Lost will only be fully revealed an hour before its debut. That means a lot of what’s to come is a mystery, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know some things in advance.
As always, keep your eyes peeled for more exotic and legendary items and, of course, a battle pass with 100 tiers of rewards.

Destiny 2 Season of the Lost is the fourth season of content in the game’s fourth year, following Season of the Splicer, which began on May 11.
Although this season’s Wayfinder’s Voyage quest has concluded, there is a major update in December and several more events before the arrival of the next expansion, The Witch Queen.

December 7, 2021:
- Bungie’s 30th Anniversary event, with additions free to all users and requiring purchase of DLC, including:
- New dungeon set in the Cosmodrome with Thorn armor
- Gjallarhorn Exotic Quest
- New six-player activity (free for all players)
- Iconic weapons from Bungie’s past, as well as a Marathon-inspired set of ornaments.
- “And much more”

- End of season and launch of The Witch Queen expansion
What we know about Destiny 2 Season of the Lost ahead of launch
Note: This section was written before the reveal and release of Season of the Lost; however, it still acts as a regular summary of the changes and additions that were introduced at the beginning of the season.
Destiny 2 Season of the Lost is the fourth season of content in the game’s fourth year, following Season of the Splicer, which began on May 11.
Unlike previous seasons, the details of what to expect are largely secret. This is similar to last year’s Season of the Arrivals, which was only revealed in full alongside the Beyond Light expansion as part of a reveal stream.
The Witch Queen will be fully revealed just before the debut of Season of the Lost.
The same thing is happening here: The Witch Queen expansion and Season of the Lost are revealed at the same time during a stream (during gamescom week) in the hour before the season debuts.
As with Season of the Arrivals, it’s very likely that the events of the new season will largely lead up to The Witch Queen expansion.
Although Bungie is keeping most of what to expect under wraps until the stream, we havesome Details of what to expect from season 15:
- The return of Mara Sov, who appeared in a screenshot alongside Osiris as part of a preview. Sov was heavily involved in Forsaken and Dreaming City, and was briefly mentioned at the beginning of Beyond Light as the Darkness crept across the solar system. She will likely play a role in The Witch Queen’s story, so having her involved in Season of the Lost makes sense.
- Destiny 2 crossplay will debut “early” in Season of the Lost. We don’t know exactly, but we do know which platform you log into first when the season starts and it will be the name of your ‘Bungie’ account for cross-play purposes.
- The ritual quest weapon will be a rocket launcher with the Explosive Light perk. As in previous seasons, after unlocking there will be missions for Strike, Crucible and Gambit themed decorations.
- Other weapon additions, including the preview of the next three completions of Strike, Crucible and Gambit…
- …while Prophecy Dungeon loot will see the return of nine Trials of the Nine themed weapons with random rolls.

- Elsewhere in weapons, legendary stasis weapons will be introduced in the Power and Kinect slots, weapons with primary ammo will now have infinite ammo (“running out… has never been tactically interesting,” according to Bungie), while there are nerfs . and improvements to different Exotics and types, from a 30% damage reduction to bosses using Anarchy to a 20% improvement to machine gun damage in PvE.
- Bungie has also confirmed the following champion mods:
- There will also be new Iron Banner armor to earn.
- Finally, Bungie has confirmed that the BattlEye anti-cheat system will be soft-launched during the season.
So while we don’t know the full roadmap, there’s still a lot to look forward to!
