Destiny 2 Nascent Dawn is a quest introduced as part of the Warmind DLC.
Starting with the main story missions ending, new steps have been introduced into the questline at a rate of one per week, tasking players with exploring the new features and areas released in the DLC.
Along the way you’ll earn several rewards, including Polaris Lance Exotic and Catalyst.

How to start and complete the Destiny 2 Nascent Dawn mission
To start Nascent Dawn, you must first complete the Warmind DLC’s final story mission, A Piece of the Past, which requires you to have 340 Power recommended. Our Warmind tutorial explains the specific steps needed to get here.
Once this is done, return to Ana Bray in the Mars Patrol space and you will receive two mission items. One is Violent Intel, used to help unlock the Sleeper Simulant, and the other is Nascent Dawn.
It’s located in the ‘Chases’ part of your inventory and highlighting the Nascent Dawn icon reveals the current step you’re on. It comes in 5 main parts, starting with 1/5, and each part has several steps.
The steps in each part require you to complete various activities associated with the Warmind DLC, and each one grants you a reward as well as a story entry.
Each part is unlocked at a rate of one per week. So if you’ve completed a part, you’ll have to wait until the next weekly reset until you can continue.
In addition to the rewards, it is also suspected that the reward at the end is a new exotic weapon, possibly the Polaris Lance.
Destiny 2 Rising Dawn 1/5
Reward: Ability to unlock Override Frequency Locations
- Complete three patrol missions.
- Complete a lost sector
- Find the first sleeping node in Dynamo Approach (found at the following location):
Destiny 2 Rising Dawn 2/5
Reward: Braytech RWP MK II Scout Rifle
- 25 kills with Javelin (play public events on Mars to gain access to the Javelin)
- Complete the ‘Psionic Potential’ quest on Heroic (you must complete all other Mars quests before it is unlocked)
- Pick up the cache in Ma’adim Subterrane (find the sleeping node inside the lost sector)
Destiny 2 Rising Dawn 3/5
Reward: Masterwork Braytech RWP MK II Scout Rifle
- Complete 10 levels of Escalation Protocol (you can complete the first level 10 times)
- Complete three vanguard attacks (heroic attacks also count)
- Pick up the cache on Olympus Descent (look for the sleeping node in the following location 🙂

- Get five precision multiple kills without reloading and 20 additional kills
- Complete the ‘Fury’ mission on Io.
- Collect cache in Mindlab: Rasputin (look for the Sleeper Node in the following location 🙂
Destiny 2 Rising Dawn 5/5
Reward: Polaris Lance Exotic Catalyst
- 15 Javelin multiple kills (play public events on Mars to gain access to Javelin)
- Complete three Crucible matches.
- Complete the quest ‘Strange Terrain’
- Pick up the cache in Alton Dynamo (look for the Sleeper Node in the following location 🙂

That’s it, you must complete each step of Nascent Dawn to unlock Polaris Lance and its catalyst. It’ll take a while, but it’s something you’ll need to chip away at as you complete milestones each weekly reset, and the reward of a unique Exotic will make it worth it. Good luck!
