The Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation is a community fundraising challenge during the Season of Dawn.
Starting with the weekly reset on February 4, 2020, all players collectively contribute resources to the Tower Obelisk.
There are multiple Empyrean Foundation goals along the way and, like last year’s Mars Community Challenge, several Empyrean Foundation rewards for those who participate.

Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation Objectives Explained
Empyrean Foundation focuses on the Tower Obelisk, which, if you haven’t unlocked it yet, appears when you complete Saint-14’s ‘Tribute to the Colonies’, ‘Keystone’ and ‘A Guardian’s Duty’ quests.
To then participate in the Empyrean Foundation, you must donate Polarized Fractaline, 100 pieces at a time. Please note that you do not need to have a Season of Dawn pass to do this – all players can contribute.
There are a total of seven stages that the community is targeting, calling for an increasing number of Polarized Fractaline at each point:
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 1: 400,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 2: 700,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 3: 1,200,000,000 Polarized Fractaline
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 4: TBA
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 5: TBC
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 6: TBA
- Empyrean Foundation Goal 7: TBA
A hologram showing the community’s progress will be visible in Tower Obelisk, allowing you to monitor their progress, which, we assume, is collected from each player, regardless of the platform they are playing on.

Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation Rewards
There are several benefits to donating Polarized Fractaline to the Empyrean Foundation. These are:
- Each donation increases your Timelost weapon rewards by 25%.
- As its resonance power increases (by upgrading obelisks in other destinations), the Tower Obelisk will generate an increasing amount of Polarized Fractaline for you each week.
- By donating more than 5,000 Polarized Fractaline before the Season of Dawn ends, you will receive a triumph and an emblem.
- If all seven community goals are met, everyone will receive a Shader.
It will be interesting to see how quickly players reach each Empyrean Foundation objective.
