How to get Austringer in Destiny 2

Austringer is one of the Opulent Weapons and can only be acquired through Leviathan, focusing Umbral Engrams on the Crown of Sorrow and crafting.

Aboard the Leviathan there are a few ways to get Austringer. Nightmare Containment is a public event and once completed, you can redeem 500 Vestiges of Dread at Nightmare Harvester for a chance to get an Austringer.

The opulent chests located around the Leviathan may also contain Austringer. You will first need to collect an Opulent Key and then locate which of the Opulent Chests it opens. There are no guarantees what will drop from the chest, but Austringer is part of your loot.

In Crown of Sorrow, aboard the HELM, you can gain the ability to concentrate Umbral Engrams in exchange for opulent energy. This requires leveling up the Crown of Sorrow, but you can eventually specify the exact weapon you would like to receive, making it effective for farming.

Finally, there is the craftsmanship. He will need to unlock the pattern by first completing five Deepsight Resonance Austringers, but doing so will allow him to create the weapon at any time, as long as he has the materials.

From there, as you level up, you can choose which perks to equip, allowing you to intentionally create your god roll, rather than relying on chance.

The Season of the Depths is here along with the Into the Depths quest. You can also know how to go fishing! Don’t forget to keep an eye on the Lost Sector and King’s Fall challenge rotation schedule!

Austringer’s God Roll Recommendation in Destiny 2

Austringer has the To Excess origin trait. With it, killing while your super meter is full grants a temporary boost to your Strength and Discipline stats.

The optimal set of advantages, or Austringer’s ‘God Roll’, takes advantage of the natural stopping power of hand cannons and emphasizes taking initiative with quick, agile shots to start encounters.

Here’s our recommended Austringer roll in Destiny 2:

  • small hole
  • High caliber rounds
  • Snapshot views
  • Starting shot/frenzy

Smallbore has two incredibly important functions for a hand cannon. Firstly, it increases the weapon’s effective range, allowing it to deal all its damage from further away. Secondly, it increases stability and reduces recoil to allow for accurate follow-up shots.

Austringer hits hard by default. High caliber bullets add more force to shots. It doesn’t increase damage, but it staggers many enemies in PvE (non-competitive modes) and causes more flinches in PvP, often causing your opponents to miss shots. As an added bonus, this perk comes with a small range increase. It’s not bad at all.

Snapshot Sights have a simple function – it increases aim down speed (ADS) – but the effect for Austringer is dramatic. As long as you’re out of hip fire range, quickly transitioning to ADS will allow you to aim accurately and shoot faster. That gives you a clear advantage in PvP and more control in PvE.

There are two great benefit options, depending on your approach. For PvP, Opening Shot increases the accuracy and range of the former, significantly tilting the odds in your favor when you begin an exchange with an opposing Guardian. For PvE, Rampage grants a damage buff after a kill, stacking up to three times for substantial lethality.

As usual, once you have your preferred roll, be sure to upgrade it to Masterwork to give it a stat boost, the ability to spawn orbs on multiple kills, and add the option for a kill tracker.
