Battlefield 1 Assault Class loadouts and strategies – SMGs, shotguns, AT Mines and more

The Battlefield 1 Assault class represents the first of many shakeups to the game’s class system, marking a split of Battlefield’s previous classes into a now single class, focused on shotguns and submachine guns, with some anti-tank capabilities as well.

Once combined with the Medic class, the Assault class is now standalone with a more standard, close-to-mid range playstyle that aims to be as flexible as possible. It’s the backbone of the army, ready for any class, and should be the ideal choice for Battlefield beginners in particular looking to adapt to the game.

Unique Assault Class Items

All Assault class devices are anti-tank focused, giving you ample preparation for any situation. The AT Rocket Gun stands out as the first rocket launcher of its kind during World War I, while the Dynamite is the C4 of this era, operating in much the same way as the modern explosive would on today’s battlefields.

Assault Class Strategies

The Assault class is designed around versatility: SMGs, Shotguns, and Dynamite make excellent anti-personnel equipment, and the AT Mine, AT Rocket Cannon, and AT Grenade specialize in dealing with armor.

That being said, one situation where you will have difficulty while playing the Assault class is ranged. Unlike their light machine gun cousins, which become increasingly more accurate as you fire, SMGs quickly degenerate into a wide spray the more you fire.

With that in mind, you’ll want to focus on getting close to enemies when playing Assault. We found that it works exceptionally well as an anti-sniper class: if you can find a safe route through cover, the Assault’s primary weapons make quick work of the clustered, unsuspecting snipers you’ll encounter on Battlefield 1’s larger maps. It’s also Great for the claustrophobic alleyways and buildings you’ll find on maps like Amiens, for example.

It is also the preferred anti-vehicle class, for obvious reasons. If you’re having trouble with a six-man heavy tank sitting at a checkpoint, for example, placing some dynamite or AT mines in its path, or simply hitting it with an AT rocket, will do wonders.
