Sanrio Amiibo Cards for Animal Crossing Explained

Sanrio Amiibo Cards are a set of six Amiibo cards that were originally released in December 2016 for Animal Crossing: New Leaf in a cross-promotion with Sanrio, a Japanese company that creates a range of products based on different cute characters.

If you’ve heard of Hello Kitty, then you’ve heard of Sanrio.

Each Sanrio Amiibo card focuses on a specific villager who, in turn, is inspired by one of Sanrio’s characters, including Pompompurin, Cinnamoroll, and Hello Kitty.

With the release of Ver. 1.9.0 of New Horizons, Sanrio Amiibo cards, including those originally released for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, can now be used to add Sanrio villagers and their items to your island.

Sanrio Amiibo Cards UK and US availability explained

Currently, there is no news on when Sanrio Amiibo cards will be available in the UK and Europe. Fortunately, if you really want the Sanrio Amiibo cards for your collection, you can import them and these cards will also be compatible with New Horizons.

How to invite a Sanrio villager to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

If you want to invite a Sanrio villager to live on your island in New Horizons, you need to follow the same steps as when using a regular Animal Crossing Amiibo card to invite a villager to your island.

First, choose your card and then, in-game, visit the Nook Stop in Residential Services.

Here you will be able to scan your chosen Sanrio Villager Card using the “Invite Amiibo Camper” option. This villager will appear at your camp and, as with a normal villager, will ask you for furniture which, when delivered, will eventually unlock the option to add it to your island community.

Fortunately, the Sanrio Amiibo cards that were originally released for Animal Crossing: New Leaf on Nintendo 3DS are compatible with New Horizons.

You can also use the Sanrio Amiibo cards released for Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

To unlock Sanrio items, all you have to do is scan your chosen card using the ‘Invite Amiibo Camper’ option at the Nook Stop in Residential Services.
