This week’s Featured Hour is all about the Fire Horse Pokémon; for once, quite an easy thing to guess! This means that this is a great opportunity to search for a Perfect Ponyta and a Shiny Ponyta in Pokémon Go.
The Too Hot to Trot Horse has two evolved forms: the original Kantonian Ponyta and its Galarian cousin, the One Horn Pokémon, Galarian Ponyta. This hour of focus only focuses on the first, but remember that you can use Ponyta candy for both, so if you have a Galarian Ponyta that you want to evolve, now is the time to get candy for it!
Unfortunately, both forms are pretty useless in Pokémon Go, but Shiny Ponyta is one of the best shinies among Kanto 150, so if you’re still missing out, you know what to do!
Even if you don’t like Ponyta, you should try to catch as many Pokémon as you can during this week’s Spotlight Hour because of the double candy catch bonus offered along with the event.

Ponyta IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Ponyta with perfect IV stats.

“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your Pokédex 4*, raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little research beforehand, you can quickly spot a perfect Ponyta based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Ponyta 15/15/15:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Rapidash good at PvP?
No, he’s pretty nasty, thanks mainly to his stats: he’s all attack and low defense. On top of that, it doesn’t have access to top-tier moves like Overheat, so it doesn’t stand out in any way. As far as mono-Fire types go, there are much, much better options out there.

If you absolutely feel the need to perform Rapidash in Go Battle League, you’re looking at the moves Incinerate (Rapid), Pierce (Charged), and Flame Charge (Charged). It’s a pretty flexible moveset that helps you build momentum, thanks to the fact that Flame Charge buffs your attack with each one you use, and the fast move pressure is a bonus, but remember that this glass cannon doesn’t last until the end of the game. , so the benefit of this boost is not always so high.
In the Great League, this means wins against Ice and Grass types, but losses against Galarian Stunfisk, Bastiodon, Noctowl, Medicham, and, believe it or not, the mono-Steel titan Registeel. That’s not cool…
The Ultra League is equally unstable. You still beat Alolan Ninetails, but now you lose to Walrein and Trevenant, which is pretty important. Other wins include Alolan Muk, Cobalion, Cresselia, and Galarian Stunfisk; However, you can add the following to your losses: Giratina, Charizard and Obstagoon.
With a CP cap of 2782, you won’t want to run Rapidash in the Master League.

What does the brilliant Ponyta look like?
As you can see below, the shiny Ponyta is great, with the body in a more golden cream color and the fiery blue mane. We love when they lean into real-world color changes, like Grass-types turning Autumn, and we love when they turn up the heat on Fire-types.
Shiny Rapidash is still excellent, but it’s a shame that the mane is more lilac than the deep blue that Ponyta enjoys. Still, it’s a gorgeous glitter and we hope you can add it to your collection if you’re still missing it.

Besides trying to catch a Shiny Ponyta in Pokémon Go, there are a couple more good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The best reason is, of course, the double candy catch bonus that runs throughout the hour. This gives you the opportunity to collect candy twice as fast as usual, and each Ponyta caught will give up to 13 candy if you use a Pinap/Silver Berry with a Mega Evolved Pokémon of the same type, instead of the basic 3.
- This bonus also extends to research rewards. Remember, you don’t need to catch these Pokémon when you complete the task; If you run away, you can “stack” up to 200 Pokémon for times like this, or when you want to max out a Star Piece or Lucky Egg bonus.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Ponyta Candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and its Galarian cousin, adding their evolutions to your Pokédex.
