Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ijo-o Shrine solution

The Ijo-o Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found in the sky above the Hebra Mountains. In addition to literally taking you to new heights, this Shrine will teach you that there is more than one way to use a Shield.

For this Shrine of Kingdom Tears you will need the Fuse skill; You will choose it upon completing the In-Isa Shrine. We also recommend stocking up on some foods and weapons that have damage stats of eight or higher. You’ll do some fighting in this Sanctuary, so it never hurts to be prepared for it.

Without further ado, we’ll show you how to complete the Ijo-o Shrine and solve the More Than Defense puzzle in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

The Ijo-o Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found in the northern half of the West Hebra Sky archipelago in Hebra Mountains Sky. The coordinates are (-362, 2679, 0702).

We have marked its approximate location on the map below.

It’s pretty cold in the sky, so we recommend putting Link in clothing that increases his resistance to cold damage before going up here.

Solution to the Ijo-o Shrine puzzle in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

When you first enter Ijo-o Shrine to complete the More Than Defense puzzle, you will almost instantly find a Zonai soldier build lurking in the shadows to your right. This construct wields a flame-emitting shield that spits out a constant stream of fire for a short period of time. You need to beat this.

To defeat the first Zonai soldier build in Ijo-o Shrine, keep your distance from him until his shield stops spitting fire. Then, once the flames have stopped, run towards them and attack them with whatever melee weapon you have on hand.

The Zonai Soldier will stumble briefly and raise his shield. When this happens, attack them repeatedly. If your weapon’s damage stat is higher than five, it should only take a few hits to take the construct down.

When you’ve defeated him, pick up the materials the soldier dropped and then pick up his flame-emitting shield. Then equip the shield and walk towards the door to the next area. It will be blocked with ice.

Hold the flame emitting shield as you would to use it to block an attack and it will spew out some fire. Aim the shield at the ice block to melt it. Once melted, head through the door into the next room.

In the next room, head to the right and quickly use your flame-emitting shield to melt the ice block here and reveal the Shrine chest. This chest contains five arrows.

We had a torch on hand, so we used it to melt the ice, but the shield does the same thing.

Next, you should find another Zonai Soldier Build on the left side of the room. This one is using a large stone slab as a shield. As before, you must defeat the construct in order to move forward. There are many ways to defeat a construct, but this is how we did it.

To defeat the second zonai soldier construct in Ijo-o Shrine, we use our flame-emitting shield to burn the construct down. Then, we follow up with various melee attacks. This staggered the Construct enough for him to raise his shield. When he did this, we attacked him a few more times with a melee weapon to take him down.

In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Link is attacking a Zonai soldier holding a stone slab shield at Ijo-o Shrine.

However you decide to go about it, once you defeat the construct, you must collect the materials it drops. You then need to pick up and equip the stone slab shield that he dropped. Once you have this, equip it and head towards the streams of fire coming out of the pipes at the back of this area.

In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Link holds a stone shield to block fire as he enters Ijo-o Shrine.

Hold your shield up to block the flames and walk directly into them. When you’re on fire, keep your shield up and head into the opening to your right. This leads to the next area, but don’t go down the ramp into the area yet.

When you’re on the ramp leading to the next area, you’ll probably notice that there’s a Captain Construct here. You will also need to defeat this construct. As with many battles in Tears of the Kingdom, there are a few ways to defeat enemies, but this is how we did it.

To defeat Captain Construct in the Ijo-o Shrine, we stand on the ramp leading to the area and place a white Chuchu jelly on an arrow. We then shot the arrow at the construct to freeze it for a short period of time (this also dealt a good amount of damage).

In Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Link runs towards a frozen Captain Construct in the Ijo-o Shrine.

While it was frozen, we ran towards the building and attacked it repeatedly with melee attacks. We used a weapon that had a damage stat of 14, so it only took a few hits to defeat the construct. However, if you’re having a hard time defeating him, you can always try to freeze him again or use what’s left of your Flame Emitting Shield to damage him.

Once he has been defeated, you can collect the materials he drops if you wish. Next, head to the left or right side of the room. It doesn’t matter which side you go because both sides contain the same things.

On the side you choose, you should notice two rockets. Use your Fuse ability to attach the rocket to your shield. There are spare shields near the rockets if you need them.

Once you have attached the rocket to the shield, equip it and raise the shield upwards. After a few seconds of flying, stow the shield and instantly equip Link’s paraglider.

Up here you should be able to see the final area of the Sanctuary. Glide to the final area to collect your Light of Blessing.

Once you reach the final area, you will have solved the More Than Defense puzzle in Ijo-o Shrine in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
