Zelda Dragon locations and farming: Where to find Farosh, Dinrall and Naydra to complete Shae Katha and Tutsuwa Nima in Breath of the Wild

Encountering Zelda’s dragons Farosh, Dinrall, and Naydra is one of the most impressive sights in Breath of the Wild.

These majestic beasts make their way across Hyrule’s skyline if you know where to look, and they need to be found not only to complete certain Shrines, but also to obtain valuable items that can be used for upgrading, trading, and cooking.

In this page:

If you need help finding and solving other Shrines, our Shrine location maps page can help, while our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide covers other aspects of the game.

What you need to know about raising dragons in Zelda: Breath of the Wild

These majestic creatures can be found flying over Hyrule on specific routes, allowing you to reliably track them.

We’ve recommended spawn points to farm towards the end of the article, but however you find them, the goal is to shoot them in certain locations with your bow and arrow, causing the following to drop in order of value, from most common to most queer. :

  • Body (scale)
  • Feet (Claw)
  • Face (fang)
  • Horn (horn fragment)

The easiest way to get to the above is to paraglide and switch to your bow, so you can reduce time and aim as you wish. You want to avoid the projectiles they shoot when they first see you, so wait until they pass by before shooting.

If successful, the component will drop for you to pick up. Only one item can be obtained per encounter, so you’ve restarted the Dragon’s path by moving the time forward to the next day (find a camp or create your own using a bundle of wood with a flint or fire arrow).

The above components can be used in the following ways:

  • Cook (the best are Fangs, which add 10:30 minutes, and Shard of Horns, at a whopping 30 minutes)
  • Armor upgrades (such as the 100% Shrine Completion ‘Of the Wild’ set)
  • Trade with supplier Kilton
  • Complete certain shrines (see below)

You can also sell them for rupees, but they don’t cost much, so they are recommended for the above activities.

Each dragon is tied to a specific Shrine, although you can ignore them entirely and farm them for resources elsewhere. Either way, here are the recommended locations and how to find the Tracking Shrine.

Dinraal Dragon Location (Tutsuwa Nima)

The “fire” dragon can be found most easily on the north coast of the map.

Head to the East Deplian Badlands, northwest of Death Mountain, where you will fly west on a giant skeleton. The nearby mountains are a perfect vantage point for gliding and aiming.

When you have a Dinraal stopover, you’ll want to find the Tutsuwa Nima Shrine, located practically directly between Death Mountain and the northern stable of Akkala.

Go down to the ruins at this location and use the scale to access the Sanctuary. You’re not done yet: complete the test of strength to obtain the Sanctuary Orb and check it off the list.

Thanks to a new update, it is now possible to play Zelda Breath of the Wild in virtual reality. Do you want help with the main game? Our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough can help you complete Divine Beasts Vah Ruta, Vah Rudiana, Vah Medoh, and Vah Naboris and more. It’s also explained how to get the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, and all Zelda Captured Memories and Great Fairy Fountain locations, while our Shrine locations hub and Shrine maps explains where to find and solve each puzzle room, including locations. of dragons and the solutions of Labyrinth. We also have a DLC 1 guide and a DLC 2 guide, including all of the Tingle, Majora’s Mask, Phantom, and Midna outfit locations.

Dragon Farosh Location (Shae Katha)

The easiest way to reach the ‘electric’ Farosh is at the end of its route, on the southern shore of Lake Rassala in the Faron region.

From there, Farosh will fly from the north and rise into the air, with a waterfall overlooking the dragon as the perfect shooting position.

That said, it can be difficult to retrieve Dragon items from the water, so watching them fall onto land might be a good idea if you can.

Once you have the Farosh scale, you will need to travel to the Shae Katha shrine which is east of Lake Hyrule. It is specifically located in the north of the Faron region, past a forest/swamp at the foot of the Popla Foothills.

The shrine is inside some ruins surrounded by difficult enemies, so be sure to approach with caution.

Location of the dragon Naydra.

Unlike the others, the Naydra Ice Dragon needs to be released before it can be found in the wild.

To do so, climb Mount Lanayru in the southeast region of Lanayru, where you will find the Fountain of Wisdom and the Jitan Sa’Mi Shrine. The link above explains the steps required for Naydra to appear around the mountain from then on.

From there, the best place to get drops is Lanayru Road – East Gate, which is located west of Mount Lanayru, where the dragon will swoop down, allowing you to get some easy shots. Tyler’s embedded video above shows this location in closer detail.
