Guru Nanak Dev Ji: The light bearer for many!
Born on April 15 in Rai Bhoi Ki Talwandi, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the first of the ten gurus of the Sikhs and therefore the founder of Sikhism. The place where he was born, Rai Bhoi ki Talwandi, is now known as Nankhana Sahib. The place is located in the Punjabi province of Pakistan.
According to the Sikh community, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on the full moon day of the month of Kartik. The day falls every year in October or November of the Gregorian calendar.
The birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji came at a time when there was no centralized power in India. Seeking to take advantage of the situation, foreign invaders attacked the country, and India was a country where superstitions in the name of religion were widely spread and accepted.
