‘IB 71’, starring Anupam Kher and Vidyut Jammwal, will release in theaters on May 12, 2023. The espionage action film is based on an untold true story that led to India’s victory in the war between India and Pakistan 1971. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and directed by Sankalp Reddy.
The highly anticipated trailer for the film was released on Monday, April 24.
The trailer begins with a plane crash. It then fades to show Anupam Kher as a government official and Vidyut Jammwal as an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer, anticipating and strategizing to keep the country safe and thwart Pakistan’s plans during the 1971 war.
What is the real story of IB 71?
The film is about a highly classified mission undertaken by India during the Indo-Pak conflict of 1971. The mission was kept secret for more than five decades.
The story follows IB agent Dev Jammwal as he leads a team of 30 agents on a ten-day operation to protect the country. This patriotic spy thriller offers a never-before-seen narrative of the events leading up to India’s victory in the war.
The film’s director Sankalp Reddy said, “After Ghazi attack, IB 71 is another story that helped us win the Indo-Pak war of 1971. I was surprised when Vidyut came to me with this story. I really appreciated the “This way Vidyut stepped out of his comfort zone for this film and decided to take on an unconventional role for the first time.”
