Karnataka is well known for its milk producing cooperatives located in almost all the districts of the state, and the Karnataka Milk Federation is a popular name among them. The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is a federation owned by the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of Karnataka. It sells dairy products like curd, milk, butter, ghee and ice creams, besides sweets and chocolates under its Nandini brand. It is under this brand that the milk collected by farmers is processed and then sold.
The first days of establishment.
It was in the Kodagu district that the first dairy cooperatives began, forming the KMF in 1955. The Karnataka Milk Federation was founded in 1974, under the name of Karnataka Dairy Development Corporation (KDCC) to implement a project of dairy development. governed by the World Bank.
When did the organization get its current name?
It was in the year 1984, a decade after its founding, that the organization was renamed as Karnataka Milk Federation. The KMF consists of a total of 14 dairy unions across the state of Karnataka. These dairy unions, which have 1,500 members, procure milk from the Primary Dairy Cooperative Societies (DCS). The milk thus obtained is distributed to consumers established in both rural and urban markets of the state of Karnataka.
KMF Operations
Puneeth Rajkumar’s name appears in the minds of many as soon as one talks about KMF due to the fact that the man has acted as a brand ambassador for the federation. What makes this work even more special is that Rajkumar did it for free. In the year 2014, Shriya Saran was selected as the ambassador of Nandini Good Life products in the states of Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. KMF products under its Nandini brand can be found in many states of the country, namely Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra and Telangana.
