Vanguard Royale meta: The best weapons for Warzone’s Vanguard Royale meta

Determining the best Vanguard weapons in Warzone took a while following the integration in late 2021, due in part to the large number of weapons to choose from.

Fortunately, now that we’ve spent enough time with all the new assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, shotguns, and snipers, the meta is much clearer.

The weapons meta in modern Call of Duty games remains ever-changing, especially with Warzone serving as an integration of several experiences.

Vanguard has joined the Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare roster as well with its own options. This has changed the meta significantly, especially with the new Vanguard Royale mode added to Warzone.

Note: As of the start of Season 3, Vanguard Royale is no longer a dedicated playlist in Warzone. It will likely return in future seasons, where we will update our recommendations. Meanwhile, this page also provides an overview of the best Vanguard weapons, although it is not updated as of April 2022.

After spending some time in Vanguard Royale following the Season 2 update, we came up with the best Vanguard weapons in Warzone.

Differences between Vanguard Royale and Battle Royale in Warzone

Vanguard Royale offers a variation on the usual Battle Royale experience in Warzone. As part of the integration of both games, this mode may seem appealing if you want to try something different while exploring Caldera.

Right off the bat, the biggest differences come down to the weapon pool: there are only Vanguard weapons available in this mode.

This also applies to operators, vehicles, kill streaks, and more. There are restrictions across the board for tons of gear options, which are important to know about beforehand in case you need to upgrade your gear. You can find a list with details below:

Other highlights include aerial combat and anti-aircraft combat, environmental hazards such as bombing raids (which appear on the tactical map and are also announced), and a larger starting circle.

How we decide the best weapons in Call of Duty Vanguard

The more weapons that coexist in a Call of Duty game, the harder it will be to categorize the best options of the bunch; In this sense, Vanguard weapons are no exception.

There are dozens of different weapons available, spanning the categories we’ve become accustomed to since day one.

Some weapons are more familiar than others, especially if you’ve already unlocked them in Warzone, but there are others that seem pretty standout regardless of their simplicity.

Have you seen the amount of attachments about these things?

When deciding the best weapons for Vanguard Royale, we look at ease of use, versatility, and total time to kill (TTK).

Certain weapons like the MG42 may have a fast TTK, but they are harder to use, so they didn’t make the cut. Other weapons have low recoil and a high-capacity magazine, but they don’t hit as hard, so you may want to avoid them as well.

It’s best to find a weapon that’s in the middle, with low recoil, high damage, and lots of ammo. But with all this in mind, what follows is a list of the best Vanguard Royale weapons in each category.

As for Season 2, not much has changed at first, but the community has discovered a hidden gem among the SMG category. Similarly, the PPSh-41 submachine gun has been stealth-enhanced to the point of being overmatched, although this will almost certainly be fixed shortly, so we don’t recommend counting on that weapon to be that powerful in the long run.

Other than that, many weapons received slight tweaks, but the overall meta remains largely intact.

Best Vanguard Assault Rifle Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: Cooper Carbine How to Unlock Cooper Carbine: Reach Player Level 15 (Free)

The Cooper Carbine reigns supreme due to its versatility, low recoil, and competitive TTK, making it hard to pass up. You can equip a large 60-round drum for plenty of firepower, or a lighter 45-round magazine for improved mobility.

That’s what the Cooper Carbine has: you can equip it to look like a long-range laser beam, with precision at the forefront, or a short-range submachine gun that prioritizes speed and a high rate of fire.

For more details, read our best Cooper Carbine equipment guide.

There probably won’t be many games in which the automaton is not present. The Automaton reigns supreme thanks to its almost non-existent recoil, daunting rate of fire, and easy-to-use nature.

It’s probably the best weapon to grab and go into multiplayer early on, and until it’s significantly weakened, it’ll probably stay as is.

If you want to get the most out of the Automaton, check out our best Automaton loadout recommendation, or if you want to see what else the class has to offer, our best assault rifles in Warzone page can help.

Best Vanguard Sniper Rifle Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: Type 99 How to Unlock Type 99: Reach Player Level 1

Do you remember the Swiss K31? If you’re looking for a similar weapon in terms of mobility and bolt action, the Type 99 comes pretty close.

Snipers, of course, are famous for making you take things slow and possibly stay in a specific location waiting for the right moment to attack. But with this option you are free to move around the map and take quick shots thanks to the fast speed of ADS. Plus, it packs a punch if you aim at least above the chest.

Vanguard Marksman Rifle Best Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: G-43 How to Unlock the G-43: Reach Player Level 47

Vanguard marksman rifles aren’t amazing, but they can be effective if you have a quick trigger finger and decent aim. In this case, the G-43 hits hard and can be treated as a semi-automatic, triple-burst or fully automatic weapon.

Its biggest disadvantage is that it uses sniper ammo, which means you’ll probably deplete your supplies quickly. With this in mind, it’s best to be deliberate with your shots. Aside from that, this is a weapon that packs a punch due to its high damage.

Best Vanguard Shotgun Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: Combat Shotgun How to Unlock the Combat Shotgun: Reach Player Level 14

Yes, we mentioned shotguns in our roundup of the best weapons – the combat shotgun is definitely worth using, especially if you like close-quarters battles. It’s not as iconic as Einhorn Revolving in terms of design, but it’s already making headway in Vanguard Royale thanks to its sheer power.

The combat shotgun delivers more than just a punch and is lethal at close range, ensuring the ability to take down an opponent with just a couple of shots in many scenarios. It’s light, fast, and overall overwhelming. If you encounter one on the opposite side, you’re likely to be in trouble.

If you want to get the most out of this weapon, check out our best combat shotgun loadout recommendation.

Vanguard SMG Best Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: Type 100 How to Unlock Type 100: Reach Player Level 39

While SMGs like the MP-40, Welgun, and PPSh-41 have dominated Warzone since the Vanguard integration, the Type 100 has quietly been the best since the beginning. This is due to its incredibly fast TTK thanks to a few key accessories.

You’ll want to use the recoil booster muzzle to improve rate of fire, the Warubachi 134mm Rapid Cannon for an additional increase in rate of fire, and the Kurz 48 8mm Round Drums, which improve overall damage.

The weapon will have some power, but within 10 meters or so, you should have no problem controlling it.

Vanguard LMG Best Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: Bren How to Unlock Bren: Reach Player Level 53

The Bren LMG is one of the most used weapons in Warzone right now, especially in Vanguard Royale. This LMG is more like an assault rifle, with light mobility.

Even after numerous nerfs, the Bren is still the best Vanguard LMG by a significant margin.

But the real reason to use the Bren has to do with its low recoil and tremendous firepower. This makes it extremely easy to use, even if you are a player who struggles with long-range engagements. Full stop, the Bren is the best long-range automatic weapon right now for a reason, so be sure to try it out on Caldera (or even Rebirth Island).

Best Vanguard Launcher Recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: M1 Bazooka How to Unlock the M1 Bazooka: Reach Player Level 11

Launchers are useful, especially if you’re not using the Overkill perk. The best Vanguard launcher by far is the M1 Bazooka.

This launcher has fast ADS speeds and a huge amount of power, making it easy to clear a room or take out a downed opponent from afar. We also like the M1 Bazooka for its sights: unlike the Panzerschreck, the Bazooka’s sights do not obstruct your view, making it much easier to stay on target.

If you’re interested in multiplayer, we have lists of multiplayer operators and maps, as well as the best Vanguard weapons, including the best STG44 loadout, the best MP40 loadout, and the best Automaton loadout, the best BAR loadout, the best combat shotgun loadout, best Type 100 Loadout and best Kar98k loadouts. In other ways, we can explain the best zombie builds and the best pacts.

Vanguard Melee’s best recommendation

Best Weapon Recommendation: FS Fighting Knife How to Unlock the FS Fighting Knife: Reach Player Level 22

Whether because you like the improved agility that melee weapons can provide compared to using just your melee attack, or perhaps because you remember Counter-Strike, there is a knife available in Vanguard.

The FS Fighting Knife is described as a ‘CQC tactical knife’ employed for ‘fast, quiet and deadly wet work’; In our experience, it certainly matches the description.

The main reason to use a knife instead of a gun is to increase speed, so be sure to try that when going from point A to B.
