This week’s Featured Hour is all about the EleFish Pokémon, Tynamo. This means that this is a great opportunity to search for a perfect Tynamo in Pokémon Go.
This is pretty difficult to deal with: Eelektross, Tynamo’s evolved form, is actively bad in Pokémon Go. He is a drawback in Go Battle League and falls between Heliolisk and Manectric in terms of raid attackers. So overall, not great.
However, Tynamo is a relatively rare spawn, and since he hasn’t had a Community Day event, there’s a good chance you’re missing out on a perfect 4* Tynamo or a perfect 4* Eelektross. If this is one of your favorite Pokémon, there has never been a better opportunity to catch them all.
Even if you don’t like Tynamo, you should try to catch as many Pokémon as you can during this week’s Spotlight Hour because of the double candy catch bonus offered alongside the event.

Tynamo IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go
This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Tynamo with perfect IV stats.
Tynamo.
“Perfect” means two things in Pokémon Go, depending on how you plan to use a given Pokémon. First, there’s the max build, 100% IV, which is the 15/15/15 you’re looking for for your 4* Pokédex, Raids, and Master League. However, because of how CP is calculated using three stats, a perfect Pokémon IV is usually just the best version of itself in the Master League.
Of course, you can’t see a Pokémon’s IV without catching it first, but with a little prior research, you can quickly spot a perfect Tynamo based on CP alone.
If you’re at level 30 (or higher), you’ll ideally be looking for the following CPs for a perfect Tynamo 15/15/15:
The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.
Is Eelektross good at PvP?
This is one of the worst highlights for PvP in a long time: Eelektrik (Tynamo’s mid-evolution) ranks in the top 500 in the Grand League, but sadly Eelektross can’t say the same. He can’t say much, because he’s a Pokémon, but you get the point… He does better in the other two leagues, but not by much.

If you want to lose in PvP, Eelektross runs Spark, Dragon Claw, and Crunch as a second charged move.
This is a pretty spammy combo: Spark charges quickly and is worth running on your electric models. The problem is that Eelektross’s only STAB charged move is the perishably slow Thunderbolt. Eelektross is a glass cannon and you can’t afford to run slow charged attacks.
If you absolutely have to run it in Great League, you can expect wins against Pelipper, Froslass, Noctowl, Skarmory, and Drapion, which isn’t exactly the most exciting list. Your losses, however, are a who’s who at the top of the meta: Galarian Stunfisk, Medicham, Swampert, Lanturn, and Trevenant.
Interestingly, Eelektrik is a slightly better choice here, swapping out Dragon Claw for Discharge and enjoying a higher defense stat. Unfortunately, the matchups are very similar: you’ll just lose a little slower…
Ultra League is a little less brutal; You can expect victories against the wingers (and Gyarados). This includes the likes of Talonflame and even Articuno. Unfortunately, Swampert destroys you, as do Walrein, Trevenant, Cresselia, and Giratina.
The Master League is also pretty horrible. You can beat some interesting Pokémon, but not the most meta-relevant ones (you lose to them). But, if you’re especially scared of Archeops, Magnezone, Gengar or Victini (and don’t want to run something better, like Xurkitree, Zapdos or Zekrom), I guess you’ve found a fish for yourself!
The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! Its first event is A Paldean Adventure, which sees the true launch of Gen 9 and the special research mission A Paldean Adventure. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Is there a shiny Tynamo in Pokémon Go?
No not yet. There is no shiny Tynamo in Pokémon Go at the time of writing.

While there is no Eelektross in the game yet; will be added to Pokémon Go on Christmas Eve 2022.
What does the shiny Tynamo look like?
As you can see below, the shiny Tynamo looks almost exactly like a non-shiny Tynamo! Well, that’s disappointing.
The basic EleFish gets a little more saturated, which isn’t saying much for an almost white Pokémon. Eelektrik, meanwhile, gets a little more saturated… Oh well, the blue is a little bluer, so that’s okay.
Eelektross is the first of the evolution line that is remarkably shiny. It changes blue to a deep green and its fins change from yellow to ice blue. It’s a decent shiny and we hope to get our hands on it when it finally comes out, shame about the other two!

Other tips for this hour of attention
Besides trying to catch a shiny Tynamo in Pokémon Go, there are a couple more good reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:
- The best reason is, of course, the double candy catch bonus that runs throughout the hour. This gives you the opportunity to collect candy twice as fast as usual, and each Tynamo captured will give up to 13 candy if you use a Pinap/Silver Berry with a Mega Evolved Pokémon of the same type, instead of the basic 3.
- This bonus also extends to research rewards. Remember, you don’t need to catch these Pokémon when you complete the task; If you run away, you can “stack” up to 200 Pokémon for times like this, or when you want to max out a Star Piece or Lucky Egg bonus.
- If you’re a newcomer, this Spotlight Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Tynamo Candy to fully evolve this Pokémon and enter all of its evolutions into the Pokédex.
- Thanks to Tynamo being an Electric type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your respective catch bonus medal.
Spotlight Hour events only last one hour: from 6 pm to 7 pm (local time). Next week will be Blitzle’s time in the spotlight, giving you the chance to get double transfer candy, so start sorting out your storage and labeling everything you want to transfer next week!
