Witcher 3’s Ursine gear, or Bear gear, is the one that focuses on heavy armor. Instead of dodging or worrying about signs, you simply charge into battle, absorbing damage as you return it in large doses.
If you like to play as a tank, this is the set for you, it’s simple, but incredibly effective.
The Witcher 3 has a wide range of different armor sets to use. While many of these can simply be found around the world, the most powerful items must be created using diagrams that you can find in the world.
The best armors are usually Witcher School gear, each of which has a quest line associated with it. While you can always follow the quests themselves, you can also just go and pick up the diagrams anyway.
Standard Ursine “Bear” Gear, Sword, and Armor Locations
Ursine steel sword
Head southeast of Fyresdal and you’ll find a ruined inn housing some enemies. Enter the building and look inside to find the chest containing the diagram.
To prepare this, you need:

Ursine Silver Sword
East of Kaer Trolde and south of the Ancient Crypt is a set of ruins. You can find the diagram next to a skeleton after going through the door on the right.

Head south of Old Watchtower to find a small cave. Stay on the right side and you can climb some ledges, just jump across the gap in front of you and you’ll find a skeleton with the diagram on his person.

As you continue along the Path to Yngvar’s Fang, you will come across a ruined building about two-thirds of the way down. Enter the door and drop down before continuing straight and going up some stairs. You will enter a large room that has a chest containing the armor diagrams.

Start at Kaer Almhult and walk up the path towards the main castle area. Fight your way through the pirates and then go up the stairs to the right of the entrance, follow that path and you will find the chest containing this diagram.

Improved Ursine Silver Sword
There are some ruins southwest of Giants Toes, enter them and follow them to the end to find a chest containing the diagram.

Improved Ursine Chest Armor
On the southeast coast of the main island of Skellige there is a cave with a marker called the Grotto. Enter and stay right before turning left and then right into an open area. You will find the chest in the center of the area next to a large rock.
To prepare this, you need:
1 Ursine Armor 1 Meteorite Silver Plate 5 Ropes 1 Monster Hair 3 Hardened Leather
Improved Ursine Gauntlets
Head northeast of Rogne until you reach a small watchtower, the diagram is in a chest in the upper section.

Cross the sea from the Marlin Coast and head to the small island to the northeast. You will come across a small cave that is guarded by a foglet, the diagram is inside a chest inside the cave.

Start in Arinbjorn and head southeast until you find a cave halfway between it and Kaer Muire. The chest is at the back of the cave.

Southwest of The Orphans of Crookback Bog is a small cave. Head inside and stay on the left side and you will find the chest containing the diagram.

Head northwest of Hangman’s Tree and you will find a cave. Head inside and keep an eye on the minimap, there is a small section sticking out of the otherwise smooth area, the chest containing the diagrams is there.
