Staryu 100% perfect IV stats, shiny Staryu in Pokémon Go

Players will soon have the chance to get a shiny Staryu in Pokémon Go. It’s probably the main reason you’ll want to participate in this week’s Spotlight Hour.

There are plenty of other reasons to look forward to the Pokémon Go event. You will be given the opportunity to capture as many Staryu as you can, with the chance to capture a Staryu with 100% perfect IV stats.

Staryu Spotlight Hour falls on a fairly quiet day in Pokémon Go. It’s right after this year’s Pokémon Go anniversary celebration, but you can still pick up the Field Notes: Team Rocket quest that debuted at the same time.

Staryu IV stats 100% perfect in Pokémon Go

This week’s Featured Hour is a great opportunity to catch a Staryu with perfect IV stats.

Once you’ve captured a Staryu with 100% IV stats, you’ll have the option to turn it into a Starmie with perfect stats. While they don’t have much influence in Go Battle League, they can be useful when fighting Team Go Rocket Grunts or in raids.

The CP values that correspond to perfect values of 15/15/15 are as follows:

  • Level 30 (Max Wild CP) – 991 CP
  • Level 35 (maximum CP boosted by weather) – 1074 CP

The wild CP value aligns with your trainer level until you reach level 30, and since the majority of the player base is now above this level, we’ve kept these values for the sake of simplicity. However, these values will be different if you are currently below level 30.

Is there a shiny Staryu in Pokémon Go?

Good news: there is a shiny Staryu in Pokémon Go.

Shiny Staryu, along with the shiny version of its Starmie evolution, was released as part of the Ultra Unlock event in August 2020.

If luck is on your side, you can find a Shiny Starmie in the wild, but if not, you can get one by evolving a Shiny Staryu using 50 Staryu Sweets.

Remember: Spotlight Hours only increase the number of Staryu that appear in the wild, not their glow rate. This means that unlike Community Day, Staryu’s shiny rate will not increase during this event.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

What does the shiny Staryu look like?

As you can see in the image below, the shiny Staryu has a green shell and a blue gem. Starmie, on the other hand, has a darker blue shell and a blue gem.

Other reasons to catch as many Staryu as possible

Aside from the chance to catch a shiny Staryu in Pokémon Go, there are other reasons to participate in this week’s Spotlight:

  • The bonus of this Featured Hour is the double transfer of Candy, which means you will be rewarded for each Pokémon you transfer. Along with Staryu, be sure to take advantage of this bonus to farm lots of sweets. Consider saving some transfers for the event in this case.
  • If you’re a newcomer, this Featured Hour is the perfect time to collect enough Staryu Candy to fully evolve this Pokémon into Starmie.
  • Thanks to Staryu being a water type, catching a bunch during this Featured Hour will add progress to your water medal.
  • Staryu is one of the few Pokémon that gives you a higher Stardust by default: 750 per catch, or 1125 with a Star Piece. This increases further if the weather increases to 938 per capture, or 1406 with a Star Piece. Bottom line: If you’re low on Stardust, now is a good time to stock up!

Spotlight Hour events only last one hour, from 6pm to 7pm (local time), but don’t worry if you can’t participate in this week’s event. Next week, Meditite will be in the spotlight on July 26, with the very useful double evolution xp bonus.
