How to get XP in Shadow of War

As with most RPG-style games, your combat skills are governed by your level, which increases by earning XP.

During the main story, most of this will come from completing quests and should accumulate at the right rate to keep up with the enemies you’ll encounter, but if you want to stay ahead of the curve, or aim for the “true ending” through later Shadow of War sieges or if you want to complete the Nemesis Missions quest chain, you will need to reach a much higher level than can be achieved by simply following the story.

As such, it will take some effort to have a fighting chance of getting 100%; you’ll want to be around level 60 when you reach the finals. final confrontation.

Short of purchasing some XP doubling bonuses from the store, the best (or rather the only) other regular source of XP is completing free Nemesis Missions (not to be confused with Nemesis Missions missions).

If left unsupervised, the orc captains will have their own little disputes, or you can order your own captains to go out and kill the enemy. You can then step in to earn anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand XP. The profits are small compared to the amounts you will need, so we recommend taking the following approach to get a steady flow.

How to Earn 50,000 Experience Per Hour Farming Nemesis Missions XP

Note that this method is only available in Act 2 and later; In Act 1 you’ll have to settle for small XP gains simply by killing enemy captains, which may not be worth it.

Once you’ve made it this far into the story, here’s how you can start accumulating XP effectively.

  • If you have Wealth Gems, place them on your armor and cloak for an XP boost.
  • Choose a region and complete any Nemesis mission to earn XP marked on the map.
  • By completing missions, recruit enough enemy captains to make about half of the region yours and let the rest escape or embarrass them.
  • If there are no missions on the map, use the Army screen to send some of your captains to kill enemies by choosing a captain, selecting “Command,” and then highlighting an enemy. Ideally, choose lower level captains to send as they will gain some levels in the mission. It is possible to assign more than one to the same objective, but keep in mind that only the one you assigned first will gain levels.

  • Alternatively, locate a worm and use it to send a death threat to an enemy captain; These can be a little more profitable for XP and can yield decent loot, but they can also take a little longer to complete.
  • Every time you level up, send your lower level captains into the battle pit to fight your higher level captains; this should bring the victors to your level (or close enough), and provide spaces for more enemy captains to spawn. Once the field has narrowed, use a Haedir Tower to move forward in time until new captains are available.
  • Avoid killing enemy captains if they are not part of a Nemesis mission; Sometimes it’s unavoidable since you’ll be ambushed during a mission, but the XP gains from a simple kill are less than those from a mission, so it’s not time-effective.
  • Every two levels, change regions; This will keep your armies more or less balanced and help break the monotony.
  • If you’re in the late game, keep repeating this process until you’ve reached a high enough level to take on the next siege, then focus on reinforcing your army in that region.

Using this process we have been able to earn over 50k XP per hour, but keep in mind that the XP requirements to level up increase quite quickly: 50k XP is needed to go from level 42 to 43, but to go from 52 to 53 the cost has more than doubled to 110k.

Get ready for the endgame to be a marathon instead of a sprint!
