You have to solve the combination lock puzzle in Resident Evil 4 in the Village Chief’s Manor to advance the story in Chapter 2.
Once you enter the correct symbol combination in Resident Evil 4, you will get the glass marble, which you will then need to use to solve another puzzle that unlocks the round slot door.

Resident Evil 4 Combination Lock Puzzle Solution
If you want to try and solve the combination lock puzzle yourself, you’ll get a clue from the ‘Enlightened 4:3’ file found on top of a drawer on the top floor of the Village Chief’s Manor.
This file says:
In great veneration for their master, the people offered their most precious possessions.
The old farmer, his best harvest.
The small swineherd, his southwestern pig.
The beggar grandmother, her beloved baby.
The teacher saw these gifts and was happy.
Using the information in this file, the correct solution to the combination lock puzzle in Resident Evil 4 is:
- Crops.
- Pig.
- Baby.

How to Solve the Crystal Marble Door Puzzle in Resident Evil 4
Once you get the crystal marble in the Village Chief’s Manor, you need to use it on the round slot door located on the top floor of the mansion, directly above the combination lock puzzle.
For the Crystal Marble puzzle, you will have to twist and rotate the marble so that the little dots inside it line up with the Las Plagas image behind it. This can take a while to get perfect, but we found it was easiest to solve the Crystal Marble puzzle by first turning the marble slightly to the left with L1 or LB, then pressing down on the joystick to turn the marble down.
After grouping the bubbles, you only need to rotate this symbol to match the image behind it.
This groups the dots closer together, allowing you to see the shape of the Las Plagas symbol more clearly, which you can then twist and turn to align with the symbol behind it.
