Details of the Marshadow event have finally come to light, almost a year after the original release of the Pokémon Sun and Moon games.
We’re still waiting for a little more information on the details, but here on this page is where you’ll find everything we currently know about how to get Marshadow via the Marshadow download code, and where and when Marshadow starts and ends.

Marshadow Event Details: Participating Stores and Marshadow Code Draw Dates
There are slightly different details for US and UK players, but for the most part the Marshadow giveaway event is pretty simple.
To obtain Marshadow, you will need to go to a participating retailer in your country during the designated period.
Marshadow Event Giveaway Dates:
- United Kingdom and Europe: from October 1 to November 16, 2017; Participating retailers will be announced.
- USA – October 9 to October 23, 2017 – GameStop.
All you have to do to get the code is head to the store and ask someone at the counter, who will print one for you for free.
The Marshadow giveaway event is unlike other more open Pokémon giveaways we’ve seen in Pokémon Sun and Moon, such as Magearna or the various Mega Stone codes, this one has a fairly short shelf life. We suggest marking your calendar and picking it up at one of the participating stores as soon as you can when the event starts!
Marshadow download code and how to get Marshadow in Pokémon Sun and Moon
You’ll receive the download code from the retailer in question, after which it’ll just be a matter of adding the Pokémon to your game. Below we explain how to do it, step by step:
- Select Mystery Gift from the main menu.
- Select Receive gift.
- Select Get with code/password, then Yes, and then Yes again to connect to the Internet.
- Enter your code.
- Look how you receive Marshadow.
- Talk to the delivery person at any Pokémon Center to collect Marshadow’s Mystery Gift.
- Make sure you save your game!

While you’re here, it’s worth noting that Marshadow is likely to be a pretty viable competitive Pokémon, given its handy ability and unique Z-move.
Likewise, when you receive it from the dealer, Marshadow will always have perfect IVs in three of its six stats, due to it being a unique and mythical Pokémon. It will also always be level 50, with the Technician skill, the Marshadium Z-Crystal as a retained item, and Spectral Thief, Close Combat, Force Palm, and Shadow Ball as its four moves.
Most importantly, the three perfect IVs and fixed skills and moves mean that you won’t need to keep saving and restarting your game to get a Marshadow with perfect stats (three naturally perfect means only three to hypertrain, which is quite reasonable) and in Instead, it’s simply worth saving before talking to the dealer and then doing a rolling reset to ensure you get a Marshadow with a desirable nature, which depends on how you think you’ll use it!
