Pokémon Go Zamazenta counters, weaknesses and moveset explained

Zamazenta is the second Gen 8 legendary, joining his partner Zacian, to arrive in Pokémon Go.

Zamazenta, like his companion Zacian, has two forms: Hero of Many Battles and Crowned Shield. Currently, only the Hero of Many Battles form has been released in Pokémon Go, and to defeat it, you need to know Zamazenta’s counterattacks and weaknesses.

Like most legendary Pokémon, Zamazenta is available through five-star raids, which means that to have the best chance of defeating it, you need to team up with other trainers. Thanks to Remote Raid Passes, you can join one of these raids no matter where you are.

Everything we know about Zamazenta

Zamazenta is, along with Zacian, a member of the duo of heroes who are heralds of the Galar region.

These legendary Pokémon debuted alongside Gen 8 in Pokémon Sword and Shield, and each of them was a mascot for one of the games: Zacian for Sword, Zamazenta for Shield.

Zamazenta Crowned Shield and Zacian Crowned Sword.

This duo seems to have been inspired by Arthurian legends, and Zamazenta could be a reference to King Arthur’s shield, which, depending on which source you’re reading, is called Wynebgwrthucher or Pridwen.

This connection to armor and protection grows when considering how parts of Zamazenta’s body in his Crowned Shield form resemble the armor given to horses during medieval times.

Have fun adding Zamazenta to your Pokédex!
