Pokémon Go Thanksgiving event update - When it ends, using a Lucky Egg and everything else you need to know

It looks like Niantic is planning regular seasonal events, with a Pokémon Go Thanksgiving event following a Halloween-themed event in October.

In short, the event doubles the amount of Stardust and XP you’ll receive for the duration, and as a bonus, it ushered in the arrival of one of the game’s most elusive Pokémon, Ditto, into the wild.

If you’re smart, you can make a lot of profits with your Trainer level and grow your team over the next week.

Pokémon Go Thanksgiving Event: When does it end?

The Double XP Thanksgiving event began on Wednesday, November 23 and will end a week later on Wednesday, November 30, at the following times:

  • United Kingdom: 00:01 (BST)
  • Europe: 01:01 (CEST)
  • US East Coast: 7:01 p.m. (EDT, Tuesday, November 29)
  • US West Coast: 16:01 am (PDT, Tuesday, November 29)

It’s worth mentioning that the Halloween event actually took place a few days later than scheduled, so there’s a chance this could go overboard as well. But don’t count: get those XP boosts while you can!

Pokémon Go Thanksgiving Event: What you need to know

The event essentially does two things:

  • Double stardust
  • Double XP

Stardust is used to evolve and power up Pokémon, making it a vital resource if you want to expand your Pokedex or strengthen your team to take on Gyms. Our article on how to get Stardust easily in Pokémon Go explains the many ways to get it, but in short, catching Pokémon is the best way to do it, and since that’s also one of the best ways to get XP, the two go hand in hand. . -in the hand.

XP, meanwhile, is used to level up your Trainer, increasing your chances of finding higher CP and rarer Pokémon, as well as unlocking new types of items over time. You get it from a variety of sources, which will be explored in the table below.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Detective Pikachu Returns event is currently underway. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go Thanksgiving: Can you use a lucky egg?

One of the most important things to know is that Lucky Eggs will be twice as effective during the Thanksgiving event, meaning that instead of the traditional double XP boost, any XP earned will be worth four times as much.

That’s right. Trainers will earn 4x more XP if they use a lucky egg during the celebration. https://t.co/Y85zhJzu1j

This is huge, especially since using a Lucky Egg is the cornerstone of a quick XP hack that lets you evolve lesser Candy Pokémon one after another, earning around 120,000 XP in just half an hour of sitting.

Here is a list of all the XP increases during the event, compared to before and also if you are using a Lucky Egg:

Activity normal XP 2x XP 4x XP with Lucky Egg
Capture any Pokémon 100 XP 200 XP 400 XP
Catch a new Pokémon 500 XP (+ 100 XP) 1000 XP (+ 200 XP) 2000 XP (+400 XP)

Win a Gym battle against four Pokémon 450 XP 900 XP 1800 XP
Win a Gym battle against five Pokémon 550 XP 1100 XP 2200 XP

Whether with or without a Lucky Egg, you’ll want to catch and evolve as many Pokémon as you can during the period, especially if they’re new to the now 1000 XP (or with a Lucky Egg, 2000 XP bonus), as well as spinning a PokeStop every days to get the improved daily bonus.

And finally, the other thing to note that coincided with the event is the addition of Ditto, although the timing is a coincidence; The new addition will almost certainly be available after the event ends, so don’t worry if you don’t manage to catch it anytime soon.
