Mysterious Masks is a special research quest in Pokémon Go themed around the ghost-type Pokémon, Yamask, and its Galar variant.
Following a tradition that began with A Spooky Message and continued with A Spooky Message Unmasked, Mystery Masks is part of the 2022 Halloween event.

Steps of the ‘Mysterious Masks’ mission in Pokémon Go
Below you will find each step and reward of the Mysterious Masks special research mission in Pokémon Go.
Since it is a special investigation mission, Mysterious Masks does not have a deadline. Instead, you’re free to complete this quest at your own pace without having to worry about it disappearing at a specific time, but you must claim it by Tuesday, November 1 at 10 a.m. (local time) or you won’t gain access. before it disappears.

‘Mysterious Masks’ Step 1 of 4
- Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: 1313 Stardust
- Perform 9 curveball throws: encounter with Yamask
- Make 49 good throws: 9 Ultra Balls
Rewards: 4900 XP, 490 Stardust, and encounter with Galarian Yamask.

- Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: 1213 Stardust
- Earn 9 hearts with your friend – Yamask Encounter
- Send 13 gifts to friends – 40 cool balls

- Catch 40 Ghost-type Pokémon: 1313 Stardust

Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
How Mystery Masks work in Pokémon Go
Mysterious Masks launched on Thursday, October 20 as part of the 2022 Halloween celebrations, and since it’s a special research mission, it has no deadline. This means that once you have completed the quest, you will be able to complete it at your own pace, but remember that you only have until Tuesday, November 1 at 10 am (local time) to claim the quest, or you will not gain access. before it disappears.
This quest is themed around the ghost type, Yamask, who was originally a human. Due to his transformation, Yamask actually retains the memories of his human life and the mask he holds resembles his face from that time. If someone were to wear this mask, it would grant Yamask the ability to possess their body.
Mysterious Masks is built from four mission steps, with each step containing three individual challenges. You will be rewarded for each challenge and general step you complete until the mission is finished!
