Pokémon Go Mega Latios weakness, counters and best Latios moveset

Pokémon Go Mega Latios weakness, counters and best Latios moveset

Mega Latios back to the world of Pokémon Go! While you can’t run him around the map like you can in the main series games, he’s still a great addition to your team.

To obtain Mega Latios, you must Mega Evolve a Latios that you have already caught using Latios Mega Energy obtained mainly through Mega Raids. This means that you must first defeat the Mega Eon Gen 3 Pokémon if you want to add it to your Mega Pokédex in Pokémon Go.

Like most Mega Raids, this is a difficult Pokémon to take on solo without maxed out perfect counters. To make life easier, we recommend teaming up with other trainers who understand Mega Latios’ weaknesses and can provide the best Mega Latios counters.

But Mega Latios is only half of the duo; Be sure to check out our Mega Latias weaknesses and counters page if you want to add both to your collection.

Cons and weaknesses of Mega Latios in Pokémon Go

Below you can find Mega Latios’ weaknesses, with a list of the best counters and how to use them to defeat this Raid Boss in Pokémon Go:

Mega Latios.

  • Mega Latios Type – Dragon and Psychic
  • Mega Latios is weak against Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fairy, Ghost, and Ice types.
  • Mega Latios Mega Counters: Mega Gengar, Mega Salamence, and Mega Gardevoire. Of course, Mega Latios and Mega Latias are candidates, but like Mega Salamence, they will be naturally weak to Latios.
  • Mega Latios Counters: – Rayquaza, Dialga, Salamence, Zekrom, Hydreigon, Giratina (Origin, ideally), Dragonite, Palkia, and Reshiram are your best options here, but all of them are obviously weak to dragons. If you want something less exposed, you’re looking at Zacian, Darkrai, Gengar, Hoopa (Unbound), and Chandelure.
  • Other Mega Latios Notes: Dragon is the type of choice when fighting Mega Latios, but it carries the risk of mutually assured destruction. If you don’t have many strong Dragon-type Pokémon, or you just don’t want to use your body weight on Revives, perhaps consider Ghost, Dark, Ice, or Fairy types to beat Latios.

Mega Latios CP in Pokémon Go

These are the CP ranges you can expect to see from Mega Latios in Pokémon Go raids:

  • Raid Boss CP: 84,000 CP
  • Maximum CP of Mega Latios – 5428
  • CP range to capture Latios: 2090 to 2178
  • CP Weather Boost CP (Windy) to catch Latios – 2613 to 2723

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! Its first event is A Paldean Adventure, which sees the true launch of Gen 9 and the special research mission A Paldean Adventure. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

Latios Quick Moves:

  • Dragon Breath (Dragon)
  • Zen Headbutt (Psychic)

Latios Charged Moves:

  • Dragon Claw (Dragon)
  • Brilliance Purge (Inherited, Psychic)
  • Psychic (Psychic)
  • Sunbeam (grass)

Shiny Mega Latios in Pokémon Go

Shiny versions of Latios and Latias are available in the world of Pokémon Go, meaning their Mega Shinies are also in the game for those lucky enough to catch them.

Interestingly, while Latios, Latias, Shiny Latios, and Shiny Latias take on different colors (blue, red, green, and gold respectively), Mega Latios and Mega Latias are almost identical. They are both purple and white, with the same markings on their arms; the only difference is the color of the Pokémon’s iris, Mega Latios has red eyes and Mega Latias has orange eyes.

This similarity and difference carries over to the Mega glitters, which simply change purple for green. Interestingly, this makes Mega Latias look a little more like a Mega Evolved Latios, but what can you do!?

You can see both Pokémon Mega Evolve in the main series games below. Thanks to YouTube user OPERATIONiDROID for the video!

Good luck fighting Mega Latios in Pokémon Go!
