Pokémon Go Fire and Ice event – end time, Lapras, Charmander, Cyndaquil, other event Pokémon and everything else you need to know about the Solstice event

The Pokémon Go Fire and Ice event will take place in mid-June and will increase encounter rates for certain types and introduce new bonuses for catching Pokémon.

Similar to recent grass and rock events, trainers will find an increased number of Fire and Ice Pokémon, such as Charmander, Cyndaquil, and Lapras, as well as ways for players to increase their XP gains.

What time does the Pokémon Go Solstice of Fire and Ice event end? Event end time and details

Update: Developer Niantic announced that the event will run for another 24 hours and will end on Wednesday, June 21, likely at the same time as listed below. No reason was given; perhaps to tie it in with today’s actual solstice, and perhaps because of the behind-the-scenes efforts in reworking the Gymnasium.

Coaches, the #PokémonGO The Solstice event has been extended by 24 hours! It will now end at 1:00 pm PDT on June 21.

Original: The Pokémon Go Fire and Ice event will begin on Tuesday, June 13 and will end a week later, on Tuesday, June 20, at the following times:

  • UK: 9pm (BST)
  • Europe: 10:00 p.m. (CEST)
  • US West Coast: 1:00 pm (PDT)
  • US East Coast: 4 pm (EDT)

Lapras, Charmander, Cyndaquil, and other fire and ice Pokémon will likely appear at the event

According to Niantic, we can expect to see more fire and ice Pokémon appear in the wild throughout the event. Between official images and press releases, the list will be quite substantial:

Confirmed Fire and Ice Event Pokémon:

  • Charmander (and evolutions Charmeleon, Charizard)
  • Cyndaquil (and evolutions Quilava, Typhlosion)
  • Swinub (and Piloswine evolution)
  • Sneasel
  • Vulpix (and Ninetales evolution)
  • Seel (and Dewgong evolution)
  • Cloyster (and possibly previous evolution, Shellder)
  • Lapras
  • Houndour (and Houndoom evolution)
  • flare

We will also be able to see more of all the other Fire and Ice Pokémon Gen 1 and Gen 2:

  • Ponyta (and Rapidash evolution)
  • jynx
  • Slugma (and Magcargo evolution)

Please note that we have excluded Ice/Flying-type Delibird from the list above, as it has not yet appeared in the game. Don’t expect to see it, unless Niantic decides this event is the perfect time for him to debut.

While ice is reasonably common, fire is certainly more elusive, so now is a good time to catch and evolve any remaining creatures you need. The starter creatures Charmander, Cyndaquil, Houndour, Vulpix and their evolutions are rare, although it could also be a good opportunity to find the particularly rare Pokémon Lapras. Let’s hope they don’t get drowned out by companies like Swinub, Sneasal and other common ones.

How will these creatures appear? Other events, such as the Water Festival and Grass Event, saw spawn rates of themed creatures increase everywhere, not just in their natural biomes, and the same is likely to happen here.

This means that rarer creatures will spawn outside of their usual spawn locations, meaning that anyone could find a Lapras in no time. This is compared to Chansey during the recent Valentine’s Day event, which only increased his chances of appearing in his usual habitat, going from incredibly elusive to super rare.

In addition to these rarer creatures, the event is also a great opportunity to get candy for some of the rarer creatures if you haven’t evolved them and added them to your Pokedex yet; Evolving those starters could be a good thing to focus on, for example.

The Season of Adventure Abundance is here! The Detective Pikachu Returns event is currently underway. You can also work on the Timed Investigation: Master Ball mission and compete in Go Battle League. Be sure to compete in Shadow Raids, complete routes, use Daily Adventure Incense for a chance to encounter Galarian Articuno, Galarian Zapdos, and Galarian Moltres. This incense can also give you encounters with other rare Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

What else do you need to know about Pokémon Go’s Solstice of Fire and Ice event?

In addition to an increased appearance of fire and ice, Pokémon Go also introduces several other changes and additions throughout the duration of the event.

1) Increased XP for special throws and hatching eggs.

Catching creatures with special types of throws, including curveballs, good throws, great throws, and excellent throws, as well as hatching eggs, will give you “XP boosts” for the duration of the event.

In short, all special releases have a 3x XP modifier, while egg hatches have a 5x XP modifier.

For example, if you have a Pokémon Go Plus, each successful catch (classified as a first attempt) will give you 450 XP, three times the standard 150 XP. It’s worthless, there are no additional boosts for catching Pokémon, evolving Pokémon, or fleeing Pokémon.

You can read about how to throw perfect curveballs and get nice, cool and excellent bonuses as well as our egg hatching chart.

2) Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game store:

  • 1 lucky egg (40 PokéCoins, down from 80)
  • 8 lucky eggs (250 Poké Coins, instead of 500)
  • 25 lucky eggs (625 Poké Coins, instead of 1250)

3) New gym mechanics are on the way. Developer Niantic has said it will “temporarily disable gyms for a short period of time” to prepare for an update “focused on collaborative group play” shortly after the event concludes. It’s not entirely clear if this means that gyms will not be available during the event or after, but we can expect changes to be made sometime in June.

It’s been separately confirmed that Legendary Pokémon are finally coming this summer, and we wouldn’t be surprised if they were an integral part of the same update. You don’t have to wait long anymore!

And while it’s not strictly part of the Fire and Ice event, developer Niantic also announced the first real-life gatherings and events in cities around the world.

That’s your luck. It should be noted that the recent Water Festival stealth introduced the concept of Shinies, including a Shiny Magikarp and Red Gyarados. It’s unknown if another such update (or even more Shinies) will be introduced, but as always, it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
